Amazon’s Appstore Goes Live

It seems Amazon are clearly still not interested in removing the phrase ‘App Store’ from the branding of it’s newly created Android Application store despite impending legal action from Apple Inc as the Android Appstore from Amazon launched yesterday and will go up against, rivals Google, Slideme and others, but don’t expect to find all the junk applications your can find in other stores in the Amazon store as they have implemented some much needed filtering.

App developers who wish to have their application available on the new Amazon service will have to go through an approval process before being allowed to sell or distribute applications. This is great for those of us who are tired of sifting through an increasingly growing number of fart and half assed applications currently found on the Google version of the market.

The filtering will also help prevent possible malware problems, a problem which the Google Android market is still dealing with.

There are currently only around 4000 applications available on the Amazon market, but that number is expected to grow as more (quality) developers jump on board.
