Changhong are quite a well-known electronics manufacturer here in China, however their Android phone offering have never been all that impressive. Well that looks set to change with the all new stainless steel Changhong V9 MT6577 phone!

Now I won’t get to carried away as although being visually stunning with it’s 9.8mm, stainless steel body, the Changhong V9 is all together less impressive under the hood.

First of all the reported price for the Changhong V9 is 1690 Yuan ($270) which is a similar price to the very impressive (and now easily available) Xiaomi M1s, yet offers a much lower specification.

The CPU in the V9 is an MT6577 unit clocked at 1Ghz rather than 1.2 and there is only 512mb RAM instead of 1GB! The screen is a good-sized 4.3 inch unit with a respectable 960 x 540 resolution, however we are more accustom to seeing 1280 x 720 screens at phones of this price!

A main 8 mega-pixel camera is about right for a phone of this price and the 2000mAh battery is ok, but nothing really shouts out and screams ‘buy me!’

At least the V9 looks good, let’s just hope the V10 looks good and gets a better performance package to match!
