Mediatek Quad-core MT6589 Antutu scores hit 12715!

The current crop of dual-core MT6577 phones are pretty lively devices, however the next generation quad-core MT6589 phones are going to make them look like 3 legged tortoises!

The image above claims to be of a phone undergoing tests at MediaTek’s labs in Taiwan. The phone is said to be running the companies new quad-core MT6589 CPU and has managed to score an amazing Antutu score of 12715!

Gizchina News of the week

Earlier this year Mediatek also claimed that the quad-core MT6589 CPU would be even more cost-effective for the company to manufacture than the current dual-core solutions, which means we are going to see some very powerful Android phones launch in the next few months in the sub $180 price range!

I’d like to know if mediatek will release a LTE quad core chip.

And also if this will support frequency other than 2100mhz for 3g

    Benchmarks look amazing

Fingers crossed it could be this

Hopefully, although i don’t think it will have many band lte support.

Btw i am not very knowledgeable when it comes to this but how do manufacturers put the sim slots as one for 3G and one for 2G? Is there a reason? Will we see 2 3G compatible slots in the future? Is this dependant on mediatek supporting it or is it just a manufacturer cost cutting thing?

It’s a 28nm chip, with Quad-A7s. A7s are supposed to be smaller than A9s while offering the same performance. That’s why it will be even more cost-effective. And offer great battery life.

I can’t wait for this chip. I think that it strikes the balance between performance and battery life. Hoping for a Jiayu G3 version of this since I really like the G3’s looks and battery!

Well, I’d say the best case scenario is that the results are comparable with those of Galaxy SIII, Not II(just checked on the site, compared Onda V972 to SIII)
