UMi X2 available in India from March 15!

The UMi X2 has it all! 5-inch 1080 display, quad-core processor, 2GB RAM and a low-price, in fact the only thing it lacks is a release date, well until today that is!

Local Chinese phone makers have been quick to see that the popularity of their low-cost high specification phones has spread from China, and now customers from all over the globe want to get their hands on a low-cost super phone!

Gizchina News of the week

Like many brands, UMi have decided to take the plunge and will be offering the quad-core UMi X2 in India from March 15. The purported release date is followed by claims the X2 will receive Android 4.2 Jelly Bean by April and will cost Rs. 14,000 ($259) which is only slightly more than the retail price here in China!

Are any of our readers in India planning to pick up the UMi X2, or are you opting for the Micromax Canvas HD?

    Hi Andi

I am getting one when they release in INIDA . Almost all popular chinese phone manufactures are registering their company India . so INDIANs are lucky to get phones at same prices as in china , no need of selecting re-seller and painful express shipping charges . i am waiting for your review …

just a little bit worried whether mt6589 could handle 1080p display..:/
hope it is smooth enough to handle everything we throw at it…fingers crossed..!!

At the very least the UI will be smooth, look at Alcatel Idol X hands on video for reference.

i dont get it why we need 1080p displays..!!
720 was perdect..1080p is just an overkill..more battery drain, more stress on gpu,and no difference as such when it comes to display quality…it does more harm than good to device!!
        :/

Hi Andi Farook from India here! need ur help to clarify few things. is UMI oficially launching x2 in india officially on their own or is it some online store selling it in india? is umimobile.in website owned by original UMI or the online store in india? have u contacted or will u contact UMI to confirm these things for GIZCHINA readers please? it will help us a lot to avoid scams or faulty products. i know gsmarena have posted the same thing but how much credibility is there for this? if u could help us with these things it will be very very helpfull for all our indian buyers and gizchina readers. Thank you

I believe (I could be wrong) that this is a reseller working with UMi, not a store opened by UMi. Not 100% on this though, and will try to confirm.
