Speaking with our contacts today we have fully confirmed that the UMi X2 is delayed, but is scheduled for an April launch.
This weekend we reported that the UMi X2 would be delayed due to an optimisation problem with running 2GB RAM with the quad-core MT6589 processor. After posting the article we were inundated with emails, comments and Facebook messages asking us if the reports are true. Today we managed to get on the phone with our contact at UMi (a manager at the company) to confirm the delay.

Our contact at UMi confirms that the UMi X2 has been delayed, but that they are working to optimise the phone and hope to launch the X2 by April.
I have also asked our contact to confirm a few details regarding international availability, and he promises to get back to me as soon as possible.
If you have pre-ordered a UMi X2 or are planning to buy one then keep posted as we are sure to have updates soon.

please also ask about WCDMA bands, if it supports 850MHZ (specially my case)

The official Umi india Facebook site claims this delay is false. Can u confirm of it is true for India? Also some pics of the grey device would be really great, though it is a far cry right now…
Delay is for all X2 phones. I have some more white images but no grey yet.

Like everybody i want o ask weather this phone will be released in India as per scheduled. If it makes it to April, i guess i have to opt for Micromax Canvas HD, the best phone as for now. It has been a long wait for me to own one smart phone. Pls let all the Indians know when it is releasing in India. Hope u understand it.
I have been given no time frame just that the phone should be ready by April. However, UMi have told me the Indian and Chinese X2’s are the same and are both delayed.
Indian is just a reseller, the phone is 100% chinese, presales on the indian store or on aliexpress are identical the same, just a smart indian made an home page.
They doesn’t even accept credit card, just bank money transfer…good luck! 😉
Thanks for the reply Andy. But now the latest news is that even Canvas HD too is delayed. I dont know why all these Chinese made phones are being delyed after initial promise. Hope factory has not got burned …Lol

Well, if the delay is true then they (Umi India Facebook) are probably lying as many have already ordered and paid the full money. Well let’s wait and see about that… Thanks for the quick reply.
Also, any actual photos taken from Umi X2 without being downscaled would be nice to preview its camera abilities. Thanks in advance.
