JiaYu have officially confirmed with us that the JiaYu G4 won’t be on sale this month, but if you are still in the market for a quad-core JiaYu phone you are in luck as an update MT6589 version of the Jiayu G3 is coming.
Last year JiaYu went from a brand that many hadn’t heard of, to one that every Android phone fan wanted a piece of. The change was fast and dramatic and all thanks to the then flagship JiaYu G3.
For those of you unfamiliar with the G3 it is a dual-core MT6577 phone with 1GB RAM, 4.5-inch 720p display, attractive body (not dissimilar to the HTC One) and large 2750mAh battery.

The G3 is still a fantastic phone even by today’s standards, however it’s going to get a whole lot better from the middle of this month (April). JiaYu have told us that a new updated version of the JiaYu G3 with quad-core MT6589 CPU will be launched later this month!
We are still unsure if the phone will get any further updates, or what it will cost, but even with just the updated CPU a quad-core G3 would be a worthy investment.
And the wait continues
Seems like a good Gap Filler for the people who don’t want to wait so long for the G4 but still want Gorilla Glass on a reliable phone! I’m interested in buying this because I’m fed up with all the waiting!

this proves that the rumors regarding Jiayu experiencing problems with the 13 megapixel camera are possibly true otherwise they should be able to launch the youth version of G4

This thing with JiaYu is fustrating. They are doing the same like last year with G3 and G2S. It’s a shame. They must take example from Zopo, they “leak” something, one month later is on presale and 2 months later is on sale. Maybe not the as same as the “leaked” version however, it wont take as long ( 6 months+ !!) as JiaYu.

Is there any news about better GPS, or better camera (i don´t mean better in higher resoultion, but the same 8Mpix chip with better quality of pictures) in this updated G3? Because Umi updated X1S, and from the pictures and iformations they posted, it seems there´s a update in this part of the phone
I own an UMi X1, and the camera is really more than decent in daylight. I like it.
I wonder if this one will be available upon launch or will it just be a paper launch?
I almost pulled the trigger on a similar Star quad phone yesterday.
This phone will be released in 2 months 😀 and then after another 2 months G4 and after 2 months G5 😀
Just retired my Jiayu G3. The 6577 performs flawlessly but the battery rated at 2750mah is really dissappointing. Even a 2100 mah Galaxy s3 outperforms Jiayu G3 in battery life.
The camera is also of a very inferior quality…creating a yellowish tinge and the flash is too weak.

Just get the Star x920/s5/ butterfly clone that’s already out, 5″ 720p, MT6589, slightly bulkier, but it works and is available.
I’ll wait for the S1,

Hey Andi. Do you think the camera of G4 would be HDR and BSI capable? Will it be better or at least on par with ZTE V987? I’m tired of waiting and I’m amazed with the bsi and hdr capabilities of v987. so….
