Huawei Ascend D2 Mini to take on updated Xiaomi M2s

Huawei are taking the threat of a newer, more powerful Xiaomi M2s serious and are rumoured to be in the middle of development of the Huawei D2 mini.

The current Xiaomi Mi2 is a stunning phone and really shows the rest of the world what Chinese phone companies are capable of producing. The current Mi2 lauched in October 2012 and packs a 4.3-inch 720p display, amazing 8 mega-pixel rear camera, 2GB RAM and 1.5Ghz Snapdragon S4 pro! Tomorrow an updated version is rumoured to launch with 1.7Ghz Snapdragon 600 CPU and a waterproof coating priced at the same low 1999 Yuan price ($320).

Gizchina News of the week

This is bad news for companies like Huawei, who just can’t keep up with the viral marking Xiaomi have been able to achieve since the company started 3 years ago. But the they aren’t giving up as Huawei is rumoured to be taking the flight directly to Xiaomi with the all new Huawei Ascend D2 mini!

Specifications for the D2 Mini have the phone size up quite well against the Mi2 and M2S with the same size 4.3-inch 1280 x 720 display, 2GB RAM and Huawei’s own quad-core K3V2 processor. The D2 mini is also expected to get a waterproof membrane along with an updated 13 mega-pixel rear sensor from Sony!

Pricing isn’t set, but if Huawei are able to produce the Ascend D2 mini for a similar price of 1999 Yuan, or even slightly more, they could be on to a phone which upsets the Xiaomi marketing machine!
