JiaYu G4 to get OTG function

The JiaYu G4 won’t go in to production until next month and in the extra waiting time it looks like JiaYu’s engineers are slipping in some nice extras including OTG function.

USB OTG (on-the-go) allows devices such as phones or tablets to act as a host for other plugged in equipment. This enables a smartphone to connect to an SD card reader, USB thumb drive or even portable hard drive and read, move and copy files. The feature is perfect for those of you on the go who want to be able to move movies, video, photos and other data without the need of a PC.

Gizchina News of the week

Although this feature isn’t all that new, it is only just getting used by some Chinese phone makers. The Xiaomi Mi2, Neo N003 and now the JiaYu G4 will all offer OTG!

It’s great to see JiaYu making the most of the extra time they have with the G4 before launch, let’s just hope that these added extra’s don’t add to the development time and delay the phone further still!

Previous Quad-core JiaYu G3 Benchmarks are as good as the JiaYu G4!
Next Kente KT998W possible the lowest spec'd highest priced quad-core we've seen this year!

Good to see Jiayu integrating OTG into the G4, it can be a very helpful feature at times. Kinda surprising that Chinese companies don’t integrate OTG in their devices more as value for money is their USP and OTG certainly adds value. Hope more companies follow the trend of providing OTG support to their devices.

Yes if they are taking long time they should work on creating a masterpiece…Because when they will come out with premium version market will be loaded with quadcore phones…They should bring something extra to stand out of the cloud?

Well now, this is interesting. Though it still depend, what’s the point for all the redundant features if they release the phone in September for instance?

NFC is not a problem. There are microSD card that you can adopt to add the NFC functionallity!

Only the USB MHL support it is a problem!

Great news about USB-OTG and I hope they will use the Android 4.2, not the 4.1.
In this way, with Miracast support offered by the 4.2 we don’t need so much the MHL because with Wireless Display function we can have the display on our TV screen.
Search on internet about Miracast if you don’t know already about it.
