6.3-inch Nubia Z7 rumoured to have Snapdragon 800 and 4GB RAM!

Rumours of a 6.3-inch Nubia Z7 phablet have been doing the rounds again this morning, now with more details of the specification.

The first we heard of the Nubia Z7 phablet was around the time the Z5 launched. Back then all we knew of the phone was a proposed design render and that it would use a larger 6.3-inch display.

Gizchina News of the week

Sources close to ZTE and Nubia are now claiming the Nubia Z7 is well underway and that the phone could be one of the first handsets to ship with the new quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor from Qualcomm. Further reports go on to suggest that the phone will have 4G LTE, a resolution of 2560 x 1440, 16 mega-pixel camera, 4000mAh battery and 4GB RAM all packed in to a 9mm shell!

Although an exciting prospect we dread to see the retail price of such a powerful Android handset!

they make such a powerful handheld, then don’t spend the penny it costs to put in an sd socket

128GB isn’t enough? lol Even the best of the best only house up to 64GB internal and allow 64GB external… This comes with all of that already inside… no need to pay for the extra 64gb SD card… If these specs are correct this phone will be a monster! \m/

I don’t thing it is really a matter of storage capacity – but rather of having the capability of physically interchangable storage. It has its uses.

That said, I can’t imagine a monster phone like this not being fully USB OTG enabled, so that would even the field a little – you can connect your high-end camera, external drive (keyboard, ps3 controller, printer, blu-ray burner, interactive vibrator) etc, directly to the phone. More advanced items might ofc require drivers.

Mali-T658 (unknown core & L2 numbers though – the T658 is a highly configurable chip, could be anything from OK to Wickeeed!), 2560 x 1440 resolution (technically should be capable of 4k output), 4gb ram, 128gb internal, 4Ah battery… This set just might break the bank.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean will most likely be announced in 2 weeks @ Google’s I/O developer conference. It would be GREAT to see this set in final production soon – but if it should do a Jiayu on us, and release in autumn – It could possibly ship with Key Lime Pie ;D

And Onetrack; that is some of the point to selling sets without expandable storage – If you want more/less – they control the price tag. But, it also means they can control the transfer speeds of the storage media – thus making sure some processes aren’t being held back by wicked slow, cheap sd cards.

I don’t know when the Snapdragon 800 had the Mali T658 GPU. Snapdragon uses Adreno 330 GPU!

Andi, is it not that the Snapdragon uses the Adreno 330 GPU and not the Mali T658? Check again!

The specs on this phone sound very familiar. The Nexus 5 & Motorola’s X are both rumoured to use Qualcomm’s 800 2.3Ghz quad processor, 3 or more gig of RAM, full HD displays etc and importantly Android Key Lime Pie.
Now that Google own Motorola it is likely 2 smartphones will be made.
A no frills heavily subsidised Nexus 5 & a very high end cutting edge device with everything, the ‘X’.
Guess who gets to run Key Lime Pie first. It could be several months before Google allows for any pre-installation on other brands.
I personally can’t see the Nexus 5 or the Motorola X being larger than 5″, which is where I believe ZTE will eventually gain ground, if the rumoured 6.3″ mega phone fits into your pants pocket.

I’m looking forward to a 2560×1600 6.3″ display. Presumably, this will be the Sharp IGZO screen that they showed a few months ago.

The specs look great to my eyes. But the devil is in the details. Lets see if they really build it. and what they actually build.

I’m still coming up short on the Snapdragon / Mali combination… is this even possible, without redesigning and rebuilding the SoC?

Forget my comment on the Motorola X specs, looks like Google are manufacturing a more pedestrian device in terms of processing power. It will however have a carbon fibre backplate or body. Nice.
Sony’s Togari 6.44″ beast is rumoured to be on the market around September and is likely to have a 20 megapixel camera, a 2.3Ghz processor etc.
It will apparently will have all glass surfaces much like the Xperia Z. Big mistake.
So on size, performance & durability (outer shell), the only competition the Nubia Z7 has will be the Note 3 and it will probably be 2 -300 dollars dearer.
Can’t wait to hear from you guys on it’s release date.

This thing is spec’d like an LG Optimus G Pro and it’s gonna be priced like it also. 4000mAh battery? Add a TPU case on the back and you’ll need a backpack to carry this Nubia. If it comes in just over $320 to the US I’m definitely game to replace my Goophone.
