Ever heard of Sunnycube? No, neither had we until they unveiled the $40 Sunnycube V7, Android tablet with 7-inch display a few days ago!

For those of us in China the 250 Yuan Sunnycube V7 tablet could be the perfect low cost companion when on a long boring road trip. Of course at this price you’re not getting the power of Nexus or iPad, but you aren’t going to give it a second thought when throwing it in to a backpack.
What you do get for your pocket change though is a 7-inch WVGA display, 512MB RAM, 4GB ROM, dual-cameras, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and a dual-core Cortex A9 1.5Ghz processor.

is this for real? a dual core tablet i for just $40? too bad we’re here at the philippines. -_-
VIA processor? resistive screen? some more info about the specs would be nice. If its a via processor it is most likely not worth the $40, better fetch for an A13 powered tablet.
40$ is definitively cheap and maybe attractive…but honestly, i won’t buy such a device and would better spend twice the prize (or more) for something reasonable: Ainol or Hyundai or else.
40$ is probably the factory price. Add retail + shipping and you probably get to 70$ which is not so impressive anymore.
And yes it’s likely this has a new Via dual-core CPU. Via CPUs aren’t that bad actually and there’s even some serious linux kernel work being done for them by the community.
Well, the ones that came with tablets from android 1.5 to 2.3 were a big time disaster, poor performance in almost everything, virtually no hardware decoding of vídeos (and software decoding demanding cpu was really poor), terrible audio decoding even though they did had hardware support there, i remember the firsts didn’t have OTG support, yes they were wifi capable but overall it was a waste of money, probably good enough for ebook readers (not quite sure) but for tablets terrible at best.
At $40 its probably to be considered more of a flexible android ebook-reader type thing ish 🙂 Guess what you’re really paying for here is screen real estate. If its stable and usable, it could work out as a travel-spare or a kids-first.
You get what you pay for – and if you end up paying $50’ish for it, I’d say you got your moneys well worth if it boots 🙂
Ebook readers with special screens (such as electronic paper) are really as expensive as some tablets.

Yea, the via processor is kind of a deal breaker for me. Also there are chepaer tablets (single core but still good performance) alwinner A13 based tablets usually cost less than $80….
