Hold on to your hats! The next Xiaomi could be a Mediatek Turbo phone!

The legendary Xiaomi ‘Red Rice’ rumours have sparked up once again today with talk that the phone could be powered by the latest quad-core MT6589T Turbo Mediatek chip and be priced to give the JiaYu G4 a run for its money!

Apparently July is the month we will eventually see the official unveiling of the purported Xiaomi ‘Red Rice’, a phone which will be priced at 500 Yuan less than the already very affordable Xiaomi M2A!

Gizchina News of the week

New reports suggest that the 4.7-inch Android phone will be powered by a Mediatek processor after all but rather than the regular MT6589 chip the updated 1.5Ghz MT6589T will be used. We’re currently still running on rumours and speculation, but a quad-core Xiaomi phone with 4.7-inch display costing just 999 Yuan is likely to give companies like JiaYu the hebejebes!

So will it have HD screen….???? And I think if they are using Mediatek Chip then it should also be having Dula sim……….. If this Is the case then, Jiayu will loose lots of customer, this time their delay tactics will backfire on them………

Would be nice phone especially with MIUI OFFICIAL AND FURTHER UPDATES. Possiblities are less but not impossible.

I agree completely. I often try MIUI ROMs on ny HTC Sensation and I really like them. The idea of regular updates is really appealing too πŸ™‚

500 Yuan? if this is true i bet they won’t make any profit on it at the beginning, how much cash flow does Xiaomi has?
Again if this is true its a war declaration directed to the small Shenzen manufacturers like Jiayu.

Nope read it again “500 Yuan ($81) less

Well, this marketing strategy has paid out, they announce their phones early at much lower price, then they wait till SoC price lowers, then they still do profit while customers still think it was a bargain. Don’t get me wrong, i like xiaomi…

Read the fucking price, is not $81, is “81 less” M2A, so it will be about $163, WHICH IS NOT BARGAIN AT ALL! specially if you consider that it will be released around october, by that time almost every mtk6589 will be around that price. Learn to fucking read.

Sigh. The JiaYu G4 youth is 999 yuan, which is almost exactly the same as the price of the Red Rice. Everyone here is pretty sure it’s a bargain, no? Plus, when you add on Xiaomi’s support and constant updates, as well as they’re quality and the fact that it has an MTK6589T processor, it’s an amazing bargain. Also, Xiaomi have stated that the Xiaomi Mi3 will be announced on the 17th of August, so wait for it.

Instead of calling people bad names and such, do your research first.

A comma, would have helped here, but in the right place.

phone which will be priced at 500 Yuan, less than the already very affordable Xiaomi M2A! (put if before “less” and it looks like that’s price)

phone which will be priced at 500 Yuan less, than the already very affordable Xiaomi M2A! (put it after, and you have the intending meaning)

Um, no. Your suggested use of the comma makes no sense. Regardless, it’s not a problem of a comma; it’s the use of “at” as in “priced at…”. No matter what follows, the brain is conditioned to expect the actual price and the eyes read it as such. If it were written “…priced 500 Yuan less than….” there would be less confusion. Better still would be to rewrite the entire sentence for clarity.

Andi, please launch a online store, where we can prebook / order amazingly priced handsets from you. Your reviews are good, and am in doubt that the store will be a success too.

My typo mistake… read the above as : Your reviews are good, and am in no doubt that the store will be a success too.

The one thing that lightly concerns me about Xiaomi is MIUI

How different is MIUI version 5 from Stock Jelly Bean ?

What difference if any would adding for example Nova Launcher to MIUI ?

    – Would it make using the phone similar or exactly the same as using Nova Launcher with Stock Jelly Bean ?

    If I’m making sense
