JiaYu S1 specifications listed

From past JiaYu launches, we don’t expect the Snapdragon powered JiaYu S1 to launch anytime soon, but it’s still exciting to keep up to date with the latest developments!

We expecting to see a lot of new phones from JiaYu before the end of the year. A Turbo version of the JiaYu G4 with 2GB RAM is on the cards as well the Mediatek powered JiaYu G5 and G6, but before then the JiaYu S1 should be hitting stores.

The JiaYu S1 is the most exciting phone we have seen from JiaYu as it will be the first Snapdragon powered phone and one of their first FHD 1080 models.

A recent post of the official JiaYu Forum here in China has also unearthed a few more details about the S1. The processor will be the same 1.7Ghz quad-core Snapdragon 600 as found in the Xiaomi Mi2s and it will get 2GB RAM and 32GB of built-in memory.

Gizchina News of the week

The display is a 5-inch full HD 1920 x 1080 OGS panel with a pixel density of 441ppi and will likely have Gorilla Glass 2 protection. A 3 mega-pixel front camera will sit above the display and a 13 mega-pixel sensor will be on the rear with and F/2.2 aperture.

Other details include OTG support, magnetic compass, built-in Yamaha audio chip, narrow screen bezels plus all the usual Android smartphone features (WIFI, Bluetooth, GPS etc).

We’re not holding our breath for a confirmed launch date or price from JiaYu anytime soon, but we hope the JiaYu S1 launches around the same time as the Xiaomi Mi3 and Oppo Find 7 (September time) with a China price of around 1799 Yuan ($293).

Previous UMi to begin development on the UMi Max but even they don’t know what it is yet!

Abbie, Sept is far far away! With Snapdragon there is no ram or camera issue! Why can’t they release it sooner? I am taking of hands from G4 now!

Xiaomi mi3 and the jiayu s1 are my next smartphone option. I going scale both for the best.

But Andi, in your opinion and should these twin launch in same time, which will be your option?

Xiaomi has a proven record, Jiayu does not (IMHO).

I wanna present a little further analysis not because I’ve decided on s1 already but, because I wanna be sure that my choice on xiaomi is right…

    Processor: m3=SpD 800, s1=SpD 600
    Battery: m3=3000+mAh, s1=3000+mAh
    Rom: m3=32GB, No SDCard, s1=32GB + SDCard
    SIM support: m3=1, s1=2

Now, Andi, please with other area of difference in mind, what is going to be your choice and why….? Sorry for the too many questions.

“s1=2” why do you think so? it’s not mediatek powered phone.. + i prefer better software (miui) and support and accesories and brand and … many other things πŸ™‚ m3 better for sure

  5. June 18, 2013

Thank you guys… I really appreciate you Andi and other contributors to my query.

That means my choice is still intact. Waiting for a 64GB xiaomi M3.
Hoping for a 3600+mAh battery and MIUI 5+ or 6.0.

Hmmmm, why wait for this when Xiaomi Mi2S with similar specs is available right now? If Jiayu don’t release it by next month it wont matter, the world of mobile tech moves so fast and if you sit on a tech for 4-5 months without getting your devices into user’s hands you already are too late.
For instance the Sony xperia Z and Nexus 4 come with S4 pro which is a brilliant SOC but I wont buy those devices as I know Snapdragon 600 is already available in affordable devices like M2S.
Jiayu G4 and Umi X2 were desirable devices 1-2 months ago when they were spec wise better than its competition but with all their delays nobody gives a flying F*** anymore. Jiayu still have not learned from 2 back to back fiasco’s first G3 and G$ and it seems they intend to repeat it with all the devices they launch.

    • June 18, 2013

M2s actually is a perfect device, but the screen is way too little for my liking. I dropped my galaxy s2 for s3…. And now, I can’t go back to a 4.3″ no matter what the specs may be.

By the way. Thanks. Xiaomi mi3, your number one fan is here waiting. Hahaha

I totally agree, technology moves too fast. If you need it now, buy now, no point in waiting. Xiaomi Mi2S & M2A are great phones. If of course the Mi3 was launched next week then of course wait, otherwise…….

  8. June 18, 2013

This will be super flagship device of Jiayu in year 2020, and they will be able to easily sell it at 160$ price point in that year……. And it will be made available internationally in year 2025………. Way to go Jiayu, with your snail pace, you will surely defeat Rabbit one day……… πŸ™‚

Can someone tell me when the Jiayu G4 will officialy be released (an approximation would be good ) ? At the begining, they said march, then late april, then 25 May, then nothing ….

    • June 18, 2013

It’s been on sale for a few weeks already (we’ll have some discount codes tomorrow for you too)

      • June 18, 2013

While it’s been on sale for a month or two, and some units are getting sent out, many more people have been waiting for a long time for the big resellers (Antelife, Pandawill,FastCardTech) to complete their orders. I’m one of them.

I have a G3. It’s a fantastic phone. I’m looking forward to the G4, whenever it arrives. But man, that company is glacial in its manufacturing.

I figure they have a team of several hundred manufacturing announcements in Chinese and English (“look at our new wood-like earphones!”) and one, poor, overworked guy off in some little room in the back doing the actual phone manufacturing. Occasionally the marketing team slides a pizza under the door, and he sends out another finished phone.

Wait whut!? I just translated the website and they are talking about Gorilla Glass 3? Can someone confirm this?

    June 18, 2013

If Jiayu release a G4T, G5, G6 & S1 all within the same time period, Xiaomi should be worried ;P

  12. Simon
    June 18, 2013

But then of course if that did happen, I’m sure build quality would surely be compromised.

    • Airyl
      June 18, 2013

JiaYu doesn’t have too many problems with their build quality. They’re phones tend to have really good build.

It not the Topic but if Jiayu G5 have MT 6585T, 64gb ROM and a SD Card Option i will buy it! I can wait <3

      Not possible.

    June 18, 2013

Talking of rumours… when does google release 5.0?
And whats the odds that they or motorola release a 5″+ snapdragon 800 with super large battery for a bargain price potentially squashing the S1. Although Dual sim+sdhc slot are considerations for some.
Mi3 and Oppo 7 of course are historically more premium.
Now if someone would start making phones from – bamboo, ceramic, titanium or at least in colours other than black or white preferably with a understated logs. They can manage it with cars.

Jiayu S2, made from ceramic porcelain, coming in November 2099.
