This Knock Off Xiaomi has a built-in mains plug for charging!

The Daxian N100i, aka Xiaomi Mi2S clone does away with external charges and packs its own built-in mains plug!

It has happened to us at one time or another, youโ€™re out and about and your phone runs out of juice, youโ€™ve forgotten you charger and you are in the middle of nowhere! What do you do!?

This has happened to me more time than I care to remember, but finally there is a Xiaomi Mi2S shaped solution! Chinese phone maker Daxian have been demoing their new N100. At first glance it looks like a cheap knock off of the popular Mi2S, but on closer inspection it has a very interesting new feature! A built-in mains plug for charging!

Removing the rear case of the N100i allows a 2 prong plug to be folded in to place meaning you can charge this phone anywhere there is a mains socket! No need to carry a USB cable and adapter!

Usually innovation comes at a price, but the N100i costs just 470 Yuan ($76)! The rest of the specs include a 1Ghz Mediatek MT6517 processor, 800 x 480 4.3-inch display, 4GB memory, 3.1 mega-pixel rear camera and 1800mAh battery.

    Xiaomi Mi2S clone my arse!

    Mi-2S has 720*1280 pixels — Daxian N100i has 480*800
    Mi-2S is Quad-Core Snapdragon 600 at 1.7 GHz — Daxian N100i is Dual-Core MediaTeK MT6517 at 1.0 GHz

    Pathetic.

They missed a trick here. Instead of the phone being horizontal when plugged, they should’ve made it hang vertical. This design would restrict the phone from being plugged on walls, and it would only be possible to use the feature with extenders like the one in the picture.

Also, the screen on the top seems to be popping out which renders the metal frame useless..

      It’s rocking a cheap TFT,attention to detail wasn’t a priority.

It still needs a power point to plug into. A human powered smatphone would be better.
Windup radio or clockwork radio was invented in Britain by Trevor Baylis in 1991. The invention proved to be huge success. Mr Baylis was awarded the OBE in 1997. Later the technology was used in devices such as torches, mobile phone chargers and MP3 players. Apart from their green credentials, these devices could be used in remote parts of the world. A windup torch is useful for use in an emergency. Could be put in the car glove compartment and forgotten till needed.

In case a smart-phone manufacturer is listening in, when can we buy windup smart-phone?!
