8″ Tongfang P80 with voice calling goes live in China

China’s fascination for ‘double’ dates like 11-11 and 12-12 gets highlighted once again as an array of low-cost devices hit the market today, i.e., 12-12-13. The Tongfang P80 is among those devices, and with a special price tag for the day.

The tablet comes with an 8-inch IPS  screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. It comes powered by the quad-core MT6589 chipset, which means that the device will have support for WCDMA networks as well. Not completely sure of how it would look, but the device does offer the voice calling feature as well (using a Bluetooth headset would be a good idea). As can be seen in the renders, the tablet borrows quite a lot of its styling from a whole lot of Samsung devices, which includes the rounded-rectangle home button on one side.

Other specifications of the P80 include 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM, 5 mega-pixel rear and 2 mega-pixel front cameras, and a 3,500mAh battery. The P80 is priced 1,999 Yuan ($329), but can be pre-ordered for a discounted price of 1,499 Yuan ($247) today, i.e., 12th December.
