JXD Venus S5800 combines Android and PSP starting from just $115

Chinese handheld console maker JXD have taken their knowledge of Android gamepads and integrated full phone specifications in the all new JXD Venus S5800.

The JXD S5800 takes Sony PSP styling and controls, including dual analogue controllers, and has built it all around the heart of a mid range Android smartphone. Starting at just 699 Yuan (for a special introductory period) the Venus is quite a nice looking gaming/phone and includes a 5-inch 960 x 540 display, 1GB RAM, 8GB memory, 3G, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, WIFI, 3000mAh battery and 1.3Ghz quad-core MT6582. Those of us who enjoy taking photos while on the go all be happy to see that an 8 mega-pixel snapper is on the rear, while a 2 mega-pixel sensor takes care of video chat and selfies.

The last time we tested a JXD device it came preloaded with an emmulator for older games consoles, and JXD’s own game market for downloading poplar Android games. We assume the same will be installed on the Venus.

Even today, a year later, emulators use maybe two cores.
