Karbonn to launch Windows/Android dual-boot smartphone

According to reports, India’s Karbonn are working on a yet untitled smartphone which will boast not only only the usual Android compatibility, but support for Microsoft’s Windows Phone os as well.

It is reported that the company has already managed to secure a deal with Microsoft to get the project up and running. Microsoft has shown interest in widening its Windows Phone offering, which makes things fall in place perfectly for an upcoming manufacturer such as Karbonn.

No word on specifications yet, but from what we’ve heard, it is likely that the phone will be able to boot into either os without the user having to ‘flash’ either. On the contrary, the Geeksphone Revolution which happens to be another dual-boot phone, requires the user to explicitly ‘flash’ the Boot2Gecko OS when on Android and vice-versa.

General UI fluidity on WP phones is often desired, whereas Android is known for the flexibility. With a dual-boot device, users will be able to have the best of both worlds.
