Not as promising as it sounds really, they are only launching the 1080p version, it’s the fully loaded 2k version that most people are interested in and it seems that just like Vivo before them it could be a while before it goes on sale. I just wonder if there’s a shortage of 2k panels at the moment causing the delays.

It is a disappointment, but not unexpected. The leaks for the past 2 weeks have all been around the 1080p version, and the company hasn’t released any teasers for the 2K version for a while.

If I had to guess, I’d say that the 1080p version wasn’t originally planned and that parts shortages or other problems looked to delay the phone so long that Oppo decided to hedge their bets and come up with a stopgap that they could get out quicker. If this is the case it would explain the confusing “holy trinity style” naming of the two phones, in a better planned world the would be more like the Find 6 and FInd 7, rather than BOTH be the Find 7.

Let’s hope that the company tells us when AND why the 2K version is delayed, so we can make an informed decision on what to buy. They really are in jeopardy of losing a LOT of customers to Nubia X6 if Nubia really ships on March 25, and Oppo doesn’t give a believable estimate for shipping the “real” Find 7.

I hope they are humble and do the right thing, but I’m afraid they won’t. The cynic in me is telling me that Oppo will try to promote what they have, and will completely deflect any questions about he 2K phone. I hope I’m wrong about that, but I guess we’ll see on Wednesday. 😉

Maybe, there are indeed some problems with the production of 2K screens. Honestly, I am not interested in 2K screens on 5-6 inch screens, I doubt you will see much difference compared to 1080p screens and 2K screens most likely use more energy.
