ASUS’ Android Wear smartwatch coming with a $100-150 price tag: Report

Now that Android chiefs have announced that the open source operating system will expand functionality to a wider array of devices, makers from all around the world are trying to get into your ecosystem one way or another. However, there can’t be a way that’s better than being on you; an Android wearable.

Even though LG and Motorola’s take on this aspect are the talk of the town when wearable tech is concerned, ASUS seems keen on having its own race in the horse. TechCrunch reports, citing sources close to ASUS, that a smartwatch from the Taiwan based maker is in the works, and a release later this year is what you should put your money on. Besides, the device might get a price tag that is sweet enough to make you forget about the other smartwatches around; one between $100 and $150 is being speculated.

The only other known piece of info, besides the price tag, about this undercover project from ASUS is the display tech that it is rumoured to make use of – AMOLED. This should help maximize battery life as well, and perhaps even sway the inexperienced user with a more ‘fuller’ colour reproduction.

So, are you planning to get yourself a smartwatch this summer? Let us know if you plan to wait for the ASUS smartwatch!
