Gionee’s slimmest smartphone offering, the beautiful Elfe S5.5 is now starting to receive the much anticipated KitKat treatment.
The update is available via OTA for users of the Elife S5.5 in India. It had been on the cards for quite a while now, and Gionee finally seems to have worked their way through the bugs and errors involved in creating a new update. If you are an Elife S5.5 user, you can head over to Settings -> About Phone -> System Update to check if the OTA update is available for your device.
Don’t panic if the update isn’t available yet, since it is common practice for OEMs to push OTA updates in batches so as to avoid server overload.
After launching quite a few entry-level to high-end devices in the Indian market, Gionee now seems to be focusing on the software side of things. Gionee has managed to secure a section of the market in India very quickly, something which other Chinese makers such as OPPO haven’t managed to do. Systematic and regular updates such as this one will only help Gionee to grasp a larger chunk of the pie.
