Competition heats up: Wickedleak Wammy Neo Youth octa-core launched for 8,490 INR

If you asked me to pick one market that’s as exciting or competitive as the Chinese market, I’d definitely say India. The country has seen some exciting and affordable smartphone (and smartwatch) launches in the past weeks, including the much anticipated Xiaomi MI3. This has prompted domestic manufacturers to respond, and Wickledleak just did that in style.

Announced earlier today was the Wickedleak Wammy Neo Youth (quite a long name to remember, yeah), a device which according to our knowledge is the most affordable octa-core smartphone in India at the moment. At just 8,490 INR ($140), the smartphone packs a serious punch; something made possible by the aforementioned octa-core processor, a 5-inch 720p display and 1GB RAM. That’s not it, the device is no mug on the software front either; the Wammy Neo Youth features Android KitKat right out of the box!

It seems as though everyone wants to go after Xiaomi; when the company announced something was due for the 22nd, OnePlus took the chance to utilize the day for an announcement of their own. As you might know, the Mi3 goes on pre-sale in India on the 15th, which is exactly when the Wammy Neo Youth does the same!

Leaving no stone unturned are Wickedleak, who’ll also be providing a free S-View style case for pre-orders.

So tell us, Indian readers, are you getting one? This really has gotten me worked up for sure!

Hi Yash, Need Ur help buddy.
I am planning to buy MI3 this 15 but listening to the rumors of MI4, i am getting second thought.
What time according to you will MI4 be available in India, if it gets launched this 22nd?

Can’t say about Mi4, but the Redmi series is certainly coming soon. But, at 15k INR, the Mi3 is a hands-down winner if you ask me.

Apple also ,but quality control does the job.
And perhaps the phones bought/Shipped from India is a lot easier then buying (Beijing) from China

They name definitely beats the boring trend today of letter/number ala S5, M8, Z1, T11 etc. I like to see creativity go into the phone name even if it is a bit whacky.
