Leaked: Purported first image of Meizu MX4!

leaked Meizu MX4 mediatek

This is pretty exciting news! If this turns out to be a genuine image this could be the first look at the Mediatek powered version of the Meizu MX4!

If you have been following the Meizu rumour train you will already know it is rather quiet in the actual leaks department but not lacking in the rumours and speculation. What we have uncovered so far is that the next Meizu device will run Flyme 4.0, will have 4G LTE and there will be 4 models in total.

Gizchina News of the week

The 4 models are meant to include an all new flagship and at least one Mediatek powered version. Now this is where it gets a little cloudy. Some tipsters are saying that for their budget Mediatek phone Meizu will release something new, while others are saying that the MX3 will be updated and  repositioned to take the role. The second idea makes a lot of sense financially and could explain the purported leaked image above.

Apparently this is the first photo of the next Meizu phone, the first to be powered by a Mediatek MT6595 chipset. This would mean support for 20 mega-pixel main camera, LTE and a 2K display (pretty good for a mid-range phone). What the image shows is a modified MX3 rear with dual LED in place of the current single LED unit.

Of course this could be just a photoshoped image! What do you guys think of this leak? Legit or not?

Dude, there’s no way MT6595 would be put in a BUDGET MX phone. According to leaked benchmarks, Exynos 5433 which is currently the strongest Exynos coming soon scores 40,300 in Antutu, while the MT6595 scores more than 47,000. Why would they use a stronger processor in a lesser phone? If it costs less, use that in both phones. My guess is that if there is a budget version it uses either the old MX3 processor or the MT6592 or a different lower-end Exynos.

MTK sells lower-cost reference solutions. An Exynos-based flagship would be designed around the Exynos plus other chips like GPS and independent audio. Meizu doesn’t really care about Antutu scores.

I don’t like this design. I hope Meizu come up with something better.

Really ugly and plastic-looking (aka Samsung), how can you class a phone with a possible 2k screen as mid range?!! Exciting to see rumours of phones coming out with the 6595 SoC, lets see what the next couple of months brings 🙂
