MIUI V6 leaked screenshots show us the new Xiaomi UI

Xiaomi will be unveiling MIUI V6 with a new look and new features next month. Leaked screenshots of the OS show a new flat look.

Ever since Meizu released Flyme Version 3.0 (ahead of iOS7), ROM developers have opted for a flat UI for their custom Android ROM. We have seen plenty of OEM phone makers update their ROM for a flat, uncluttered look and now leaked screenshots reveal Xiaomi are doing the same.

MIUI V6 was briefly mentioned during the Xiaomi Mi4 launch event last week, but the ROM and all it’s new features won’t be unveiled until August 16th. These screenshots show us that the latest version of MIUI will sport a new simpler look.

Gizchina News of the week

The version number of the UI seen here is MIUI-6.7.28 which is based on Android 4.4.4, the latest build of Android Kitkat. Everything from the menus to icons has ben given a new look.

Are there any current MIUI V5 users reading this? What do you think of MIUI V6? Personally I quite like it, it has been way too long since we have seen a UI update for Xiaomi devices.

Which Xiaomi devices will MIUI V6 be available for ?

Xiaomi Mi3, Mi4 and MiPad for sure. Other devices will have to be seen. But I am sure that in case Xiaomi is not updating the Redmi range, community will do at some point.

Great. I’m planning on buying the Mi3 at the end of August, and installing MIUI V6 (unless it will ship with it preinstalled).
