Low-cost Meizu casing show up thanks to Weibo tipster

meizu k52

Rumour has it that Meizu have a low-cost Android phone up their sleeve which could launch this side of Christmas. Those rumours were partly confirmed today when these photos appeared on Weibo.

Jack Wong himself told Meizu fans that there will be 4 Meizu product launches this year, so far we have had 2 and a 3rd could be closer than we expected as rumours claim a second Mediatek powered Meizu is launching soon.

Known simply by it’s codename the Meizu k52 has been on GFXbench with a 64bit Mediatek, Octaocre processor which should also give the phone 4G LTE as well as 3G and GSM support.

Gizchina News of the week

These images which appeared on Weibo earlier are rumoured to be of the new Meizu phone and appear to be made of a similar white plastic as the previous generation Meizu MX3. The images give us a good glimpse at the rear shell which has a similar large space for a glass lens on the rear camera, and room for what appears to be dual LED flash.

The base of the phone has a similar single speaker and USB arrangement as the current MX4 and MX4 Pro and we can just make out spaces for physical controls on the left side of the phone.

Finally the image on the inside looks like there will be no NFC and, a black famed glass panel is good news for fans of the Meizu ‘panda’ phones.

Of course we still need to wait and see what Meizu actually have planned to see if these images are genuine or not. What do you guys make of these alleged leaks?

You can see the dimensions of the screen in one of the pics, it looks like a 5 inch phone or larger based on these dimensions, not sure if that is likely or not.

Dimensions of the screen in the pic seem to be 73mmx144mm

I see there 72×148 or 73×148 but anyways it doesn’t look to have such numbers with narrow top and bottom bezels like this.
Width like for a 5-5.2 inch phone so no way to be k52.

Design pretty similar to MX3, I might be too optimistic but is there a chance to see this phone on sale before Xmas? I hope that this device has a huge battery (at least 2800mAh and replaceable) and a good camera. Should I wait for it or go another device?

Two months since launch will be hard to get because all the sales will be with in China and most likely they release the WCDMA version only after a month or two.

It looks like the MX3, but with bigger dimensions. I’m waiting to see the final product in its’ presentation, so that I can decide whether I sell my MX3 or not. The phone seems promising with all these specs and I wish for a fairly good price.

I imagine they’re going to come out with something to compete with the likes of the upcoming HongMi 2. I wish they wouldn’t because I think Meizu as a brand is better than that.

I saw an adv. with the date 12.11 and some red apples under it… can you confirm Andi if they have something to announce on that day?!
BTW is it me or the camera hole seems to be a little smaller than mx4/mx4 pro? If that’s the case i doubt this phone will have the same camera and it’s quite normal since they want to make a cheaper phone.

they won’t announce on that day. I think they will announce the launch date

I just have the feeling that we are talking about 2 phones at the same time. There is probably a 4.6 inch and a 5 or 5.5 inch. Let see what happens 😀

There won’t be a 4.6″ version for the K52. That was just GFXBench being buggy as hell unfortunately…

Yeah that sucks! I would love to see a 4.6 or 4.7 inch 😀 It doesn’t have to be so large for me. But there will probably be 2 phones so lets wait on that 😀
