MWC: IUNI U3 Mini hands on

iuni u3 mini

While browsing the Gionee stand I was surprised to see that IUNI were also present and had their new IUNI U3 Mini on show.

The IUNI U3 Mini is the 3rd Android smartphone from Gionee’s internet based phone brand. Based on the design of the IUNI U3, the Mini has a smaller 5.2-inch display and ditches on-screen controls for buttons located below the sceen on the chin.

A smaller display also doesn’t require the same 2K resolution as the 5.5-inch flagship, so resolution has been reduced to only 1920 x 1080.

Gizchina News of the week

Full specs weren’t available to me while I was at the stand as the IUNI staff were away for lunch. I was able to learn that the phone has a 13 megapixel rear camera with single LED flash and that IUNI plan to launch the U3 Mini on sale via the internet to a few international markets but we will have to wait to learn which.

Next Mlais M52 Red Note MT6752 will go on sale later this month starting from $149.99

It looks funny, but it is called “mini” when compared to a “normal” IUNI U3, which is 5,5″ device.

yeah, not sure how is 0.3″ difference compared to standard version making it mini

you can still go for IUNI U2 with 4.7″ if you don’t mind little bit lower specs and missing 4G, otherwise still nice phone for 1000-1100RMB

0.3 inches IMHO are not enough to justify the “mini” attribute. Compact would have been a better choice… but an even better would have been making it 4.5-4.7 inches and calling it a day!

Mini, compact, micro it doesn’t really matter what they call it, its a marketing buzz word. Overall the demand for phones under 5 inches isn’t that great in the two countries this will sell the most in (China and India).

I’m surprised Gionee won’t sell those in India. India is Gionee’s biggest market.

It would make sense with a Mediatek processor and lower price but why would anyone chose this over the U3?
