Kingzone have had a subdued 2015 so far, but the company is certainly looking to come back with a bang with their MT6752 powered Kingzone Z1.

The device has been in the news for a while now, but it is only now that resellers are starting to get stock of the device. If you don’t remember the specifications of the phone, let me give you a quick recap: the phone comes with a 5.5-inch 1280 x 720p display, and is powered by the MediaTek MT6752 octa-core 64-bit processor as mentioned before.

Gizchina News of the week

It also has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of on-board storage, making for a decent on the go set up. There’s a few other phones with similar core specifications that we’ve seen, including the JiaYu S3 2GB RAM edition, Siswoo Cooper i7 and even the Mlais M52 Red Note (Redmi Note clone).

The Kingzone Z1 is now on sale for US$179.99 via reseller Gearbest, if you use coupon code “GBKZ1” at checkout. More info about the device can be found via the source link at the bottom.

Which MT6752 phone are you eyeing, then? Let us know in the comments section below. In the meantime, we’re going about our testing with the Kingzone Z1, and a review should be out in the next few days!

I would have gone for the Turbo version if it were available, upgraded like the K1 was. Now the Elephone P7000 is delayed again, I think the Ecoo Aurora is top of my list. Then again the LeTV models, x900 especially, could be worth waiting for.

beware the Aurora’s camera. BETTER request Andi for an extensive review!

If the build quality and ROM is anything like the K1 turbo then this could be a great alternative to the Jiayu S3 et al, only a shame it only has a HD screen.

WAtch out for the memory partitions. I cannot understand why kingzone insists on this kind of storage split. For this reason only this phone is a disappointment.
Many have noticed the split in videos when they go over the storage. Especially on n1 plus

They are getting closer but still the best MK6752 phone has to come out.

I bought one, only for HD screen. I don’t like Fhd screens, it’s a great waste of battery and GPU power. A LTPS HD screen is more smooth than a traditional FHD IPS.

It always makes me laugh when people say they wont buy it because it only has 720p. It depends just as much on the quality of the display as it does on the pixels. I know of quite a few high quality 720p displays that look better than cheaper 1080p displays.

i agree. Z1 display better than jiayu s3 1080 Display.

What a shame its not as “good looking” as K1. K1 also has USB Host and FHD. At $179.99 its really good value compared to Ulefone Be Pro

A LTPS HD screen is more smooth than a traditional FHD IPS and 3gb ram will be better for 2017 smartphones, the rest is marketing to sell overpriced. Ips (Lg) vs LTPS (Meizu) vs Amoled (Samsung) vs retina (Apple): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKj5nZieijs

And you also haven’t compared both in person. All these keyboard warriors.

Edit: oh wait, you’re just justifying your investment. Well okay, have fun with your new toy, don’t bother with people who disagree.

And there are 1080p display that’s better and has higher pixel density at 5.5″ making it easier for reading text. What a meaningless statement, if you want to make it relevant, clearly state which phone has worse FHD screen than this at the price range.

I own two Xiaomi RedMi Note phones (3G + 4G versions). Both phone’s displays are equal to or better than my OnePlus One. At first I thought it might be just my subjective opinion so I set the three phones up side by side using Flipboard as a reference (nice colors, clear fonts) and asked several of my co-workers what they thought. The RM Note 3G came out on top and the 1+1 was tied with the RM Note 4G. All phones were set up at about 70% brightness. Resolution isn’t everything. Just ask someone who owns a Samsung with an OMLED display.

Here are also some fact :
        – Yes resolution isn’t everything, read what I wrote below (or above)
        – Yes good HD display could look better than shit HD display
        – However good FHD display will always look better than good HD display, this is simply how the world work
        – We don’t know which kind this phone has. It could be either good or bad however we do know that it uses HD display and 2GB of ram at the current price. You decide for yourself if it’s worth it or not but don’t spout things you’re not sure yourself (aka the above).

I never said their wasn’t better 1080 displays. Just pointing out that not all displays are created equally. It’s only meaningless if you find the need to disagree with everything like you so often do. I don’t have to clearly state anything for you. You can form your opinions.

    lol 720p@5.5″ at this price.

      March 25, 2015

I haven’t seen the display on the Z1 but can tell you that the HD screen on my Xiaomi RedMi Note 4G is just as good, if not better than my OnePlus One which has a FHD display. I also get better battery life on the RedMi Note, probably because of the lower resolution display.

      • desponent
        March 25, 2015

Yes I know that fact already, I have the Jiayu G4S which I have personally compared to lots of high end phone (and Redmi Note), and its screen handily beat them all without a sweat. However that fact still doesn’t mean much in this regard since I’m sure a properly made FHD display could be better, and we don’t know the quality of this phone’s HD display.

  15. desponent

Computer display consisted of a bunch of pixels that emit red green and blue primary color as the lowest unit. So the more stretched they are (i.e. huge screen area low pixel count) the more they look noticeable to naked eyes in normal phone viewing distance, conversely the more closely packed together they are the more you won’t notice them, making lines looks not aliased.

When you get to do the full review please focus on the battery life. From the little I could find on this matter it looks like the battery capacity is not real.
I ordered one yesterday mainly for the big battery combined with the lower resolution screen (I would want as much SOT as possible), but i fear it won’t be even close to what I was expecting…
    Thank you.

It’s just my oppinion but… I have Kingzone K1 turbo. The display is awesome… really is. But can I be honest? The only difference I saw was my battery draining quickly. For a smartphone I still think 720p is enough. Certainly there is a difference . But between a beautiful display and more battery life at least I choose the battery.

Has somebody this phone? What about camera quality? I think it is one of the biggest troubles of the new phones. Manufacturers often advertise “Sony” camera, but real pictures from their phones are terrible. For example, visit FCB group Elephone P6000 and watch, what that camera does. It’s not a photo it’s a painting…

Yes, is 2500mAh, 4/5h of screen on, kingzone always lies in battery capacity. if you don’t know, kingzone is a brand of STAR (I have a Star a919 from 2011 and the battery is 1000mAh, not 1500 as described), observe in workers uniforms: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NS7jFsFYsT8

If you use only one sim card , no gps, no bluetooth, no vibration touch or keyboard, without binding WLAN and with a minimum screen brightness , the battery will last almost two days
