Oppo Find 7 getting a long overdue Lollipop update

Believe it or not but owners of the Oppo Find 7 are still running Android 4.4 Kitkat, but come May Lollipop will finally arrive.

Although the OnePlus One and the Oppo Find 7 are essentially the same device, customers who opted for the Oppo Flagship are at a slight disadvantage when it comes to getting the latest Android updates.

Finally though, the Oppo Find 7 is going to receive an Android 5.0 Lollipop update with the a coming ColorOS update in May. The coming version of ColorOS will be based on Android 5.0.2, at this moment details of the ROM and any additional features are currently not known.

Gizchina News of the week

Are you an Oppo Find 7 owner? Are you excited about the coming Lollipop update?

Thanks to Simon for the tip.

LOL. Will this finally be a stable Color OS 2.0 release? After all they offer crappy betas for almost half a year now. Oppo’s update policy really sucks.

Color OS is a train wreck of an UI. The only thing i have used that is less stable than that is Nubia OS.

Oppo sucks in general I think… OnePlus are like the polished version of them 😉

The Find 7 isn’t essentially the same phone, back in the day when they were launched (not too long before the OnePlus One came along…) the Find7a was dubbed as ‘essentially being the same’ but it really wasn’t, it was more £££’s and it had 2gb RAM, Smaller Battery, lower clock speed SD801 and that ColorOS thing… Granted, the Find7 (2K Version) on paper was a better device (due to the 2K Screen) but the price tag was astronomical in comparison to the OnePlus One, it just aint the same phone! It’s got a mad light bar thing on the bottom, the OPO does not! I just don’t see it!!!

I’m sure there are similarities inside, maybe the mainboard is the same etc but I think people are banging on about it being the same device because all that stuff about Oppo funding the OnePlus ‘start-up’…

Either way, I’m so glad I didn’t spend MORE money on the Oppo variant as my OPO is still going super strong after all this time and now it has CM12s I’m back in the game with it! Woop Woop!

And now all the crap comments in retaliation can begin…. HaHaHaHa…

yes it will begin :), Oppo is more expensive is true, but included MaxxAudio since the beginning, fast charging (100% in 40 mins).. Most people will disagree but I prefer ColorOS to CM12s by far.. I already tried cm12 on my Oppo and I wanted to die.. My audio was terrible, camera was terrible.. Lost most of my features from ColorOS and the worse for me was just ergonomics I couldn’t use my phone with one hand.. even in recent apps I had to go all the way up just to close all things like that, really pissed me off.. ColorOS android version 4.3 was buggy, but it came a long way and now is super light clean and flat..

Oppo is a subsidiary of BBK(=Vivo).
Same family yes, but not the same company.

So while he says OPPO sucks he will realize that OPPO owns OPO and he’ll feel like a fool

Just because OPPO sucks doesn’t mean OPO can’t be good regardless if they are the same company. Look at another industry, I think Volkswaggen cars suck but I love Audi.

I don’t think he really cares about who is collecting profits as long as he is getting a quality product that enjoys.

They are all owned by the same OEM, BBK but OPPO amd VIVO are separately managed and controlled. OPO on the other hand is a direct spin off from OPPO, many of the people running OPO are former OPPO executives.
