Nubia Z9 listing shows a $692 price tag

Nubia Z9

Nubia’s next device is promised to have some fancy tech, but it sounds like it will be coming at a very high price!

When Nubia started their phone business they wanted to be seen as a premium phone maker and set their prices high. That was with the launch of the Z5, but by the time the Z7 range came along the brand realised that a new pricing strategy was needed to keep competitive.

If you compare the Z7 features and price to the Z9 range you will see that Nubia are slowly raising their prices again, and it is going to continue with the release of the Nubia Z9 flagship this month.

Reports have suggested that the Z9 will feature a borderless design, metal body, and touch sensing gesture areas on either side. Hardware details seen at TENAA show 8GB RAM and a 3.5Ghz processor, and although we are 99% certain they are incorrect, we believe the specs are going to be very high.

Gizchina News of the week

Nubia Z9

With all that in mind pricing is going to be higher than expected, with online stores in China already listing the phone at 4299 Yuan ($695), with international resellers profit on top the price could be nearer $800.

Will this be the final price of the Nubia Z9, or is this just another method for the Nubia marketing dept to get the press talking about their new device? Find out after the launch coming soon.

Eh Nubia isn’t a company it’s a brand, ZTE is the company, like Galaxy for Samsung

It’s a little different than Galaxy as Galaxy is used for everything from budget phones to tablets to flagships. Just about every Samsung phone has the word Galaxy in it. ZTE on the other hand only uses Nubia for a certain set of phones usually with flagship or close to flagship specs (mini and max versions). It’s more like Huwaeii’s Honor Brand, OPPO’s One Plus One brand or Gionee’s IUNI. It’s a specific brand designed to be separate from the parent brand. Some of those I mentioned are managed separately but it’s the same general idea.

This might work out if this phone stands out against a Galaxy S6 (Edge) in a comparison test, but even then… most people will go for the well known brand name, if the price difference is so little.

balcobomber25 i have seen your comments on other posts, you being a good knowledgable person around phones… can you please recommend me a good phone around $200??? PLEASE!

Jiayu S3 is pretty much the golden standard right now for $200 phones, you really can’t go wrong with it.

The soon to be released Elephone P7000 sounds like another option but we have to wait and see. If you want similar specs on a smaller screen the THL 2015 is a good phone from a good company. If you aren’t a power user the Xiaomi Redmi 2 is very good phone with a smaller screen (4.7 inch). If you want an amazing camera the Gionee E7 can be found for as low as $180.

i live in the US so many of these awesome phones won’t work here, but i preordered the alcatel onetouch idol 3 for 200US for the wife. not flagship but should be plenty good. the idea of spending 700US on a phone is just stupid to me. so many good options under 300

If you live in the US Blu has some excellent phones, all of them are rebadged Gionee’s but I have used several and never had any issues.

Lemme guess, stock Android is the best UI in the world.

Not a fan of stock Android at all too plain and boring for me. Some good UI’s that I like are in no particular order: LeWa, Flyme, MIUI, and Fun Touch.

Wow…. That’s a hell of an increase over the Z9 Max! Why would anyone pay that?! For that you would buy a flagship device from HTC (One M9) or Samsung (S6) locally, without all the warranty issues and have local support and properly finished firmware. Will await the review of the device and the official announcement tomorrow for proper pricing etc.

No thanks. But in their defense the dual-sim version of the S6 and Note 4 are almost $900. Having said that there are countless phones in the $300-400 range that are just as good.
