The Xiaomi Redmi 2 just got a price cut in China yesterday, to cost a mere 599 Yuan or US$96. Xiaomi is following it up with a similar slash in pricing for the device for buyers in India.
India has fast become Xiaomi’s second home. The company is just shy of completing its first year in India, and is already a near-household name in the country. The Redmi 2 may not have made waves as strong as the Redmi 1S did, but the device is still an important addition to the company’s portfolio.
Gizchina News of the week
After today’s price cut, the Redmi 2 in India will only be 5,999 INR (US$95), down from the launch price of 6,999 INR (US$110). The 2GB RAM version of the phone, which was earlier promised by Xiaomi, is yet to go on sale; Xiaomi however maintain that the Redmi 2 2GB RAM will be coming.
Nonetheless, US$95 is a good price to pay for the Redmi 2, one would believe. If you aren’t aware about the pros and cons of the phone, check out our review of the device.
