There were rumours about Elephone setting up shop in India, but an official confirmation had been pending. It appears as though Elephone have indeed jumped the gun and are official India with a smartphone launch already.

Elephone have launched the Elephone G7 in the country. The G7 is currently listed on India’s Snapdeal.com for 8,888 INR (US$140), but is out of stock at the moment. Elephone do seem quite excited about making it big in India, which happens to be one of the hottest markets right now for Chinese makers as their home market tends towards saturation.

Gizchina News of the week

“India is a highly competitive market, so we bring our high quality and performance products with aggressive price, which is slight higher than net cost of the products. Elephone is directly cooperating with one of the largest marketplace in India—Snapdeal,”. The Elephone CEO went on to add, “We’re glad to cooperate with Snapdeal and willing to bring more good products to India like G9 and P4000.”

It’ll be interesting to see how well the market reacts to a brand like Elephone, which has shot to popularity in the recent months. After sales service is something buyers will usually be worried about also.
