OnePlus 2 will be smaller than the One

A few hours ago today OnePlus started an AMA on Reddit for interested people and consumers to ask some questions about the upcoming OnePlus 2 flagship. From the page we’ve got interesting news to point that the OnePlus 2 would be smaller than its predecessor.

Several questions were asked, some quite obvious and others interesting. Despite that OnePlus tried to give good responses for most questions… and for others, the company attempted to create more hype for the flagship. That’s the case of the picture below with the saying “I can only tell you that under this OnePlus One there is a OnePlus 2.”

Followers of OnePlus in its early days would remember that OnePlus pulled off a similar feat back in 2014, comparing it to another popular phone.

The answer has be given to a user that asked if the OnePlus 2 would come with different size variants. The conclusion is as the saying suggests, i.e., that the OnePlus 2 will be smaller. Now we can only try to wonder how much smaller would it be. We can expect a smaller screen than the original 5.5-inches from the OPO, or perhaps the same 5.5-inch with a better screen body ratio since the OnePlus One isn’t particularly a good reference in compact design.

Gizchina News of the week

The round of questions ended with some thanks by the company which states once again to be waiting for everyone attention during the launch event in July 27. The OnePlus 2 confirmed specs are the hot (pun intended) Snapdragon 810 besides 4GB of RAM. Find more OnePlus 2 specs and scoop here.

That’s everything for now any news we will report. For now you guys can give your guesses about the size of OnePlus 2, what is your bet?

Too big size of OPO was the reason I didn’t get one. I hope this one will be more compact, or at least there will be other variants.

Yes, and break walnuts with the screen, while heating your kitchen with the processor.

This phone will likely looks like an Oppo. Something like the Oppo R7. No big deal about it.

No more CM, no longer a big phone (most likely going to be 5 inches), higher price, horrible underclocked SoC. It’s like they sat in a meeting and said “alright why did everyone love our phone so much?, Lets do the exact opposite this time!!!” And then they broke out into 5 minutes of “Never Settle” chants.

I do think the screen will remain 5.5″ with a better screen/body ratio. Like Marco said, the OP1 wasn’t exactly winning awards for its small footprint. Getting rid of the capacitive buttons (which I expect) could make it shorter, and switching to a newer, QHD display (which I also expect) could make it much narrower.

They could also move the speakers to the front as with the newer Moto and HTC phones, and the volume/power buttons to the back in a nod to the LG G-series. I somehow doubt those two implementations, however.
