Xiaomi finally ditch their traditional packaging with the Xiaomi Mi4c

In just a couple of days time Xiaomi will announce the Xiaomi Mi4c, and may also finally ship the phone in something other than plain recycled cardboard.

Since the launch of the Xiaomi Mi1, Xiaomi phones, tablets, and most gadgets have all shipped in plain recycled cardboard boxes. Its a sign that Xiaomi didn’t waste money where not necessary and it also showed the companies preference in green materials.

Gizchina News of the week

Xiaomi fans are getting a bit tired of the bland packaging though and we might see the Xiaomi Mi4c ship in something a little brighter. The picture above shows an orange box (matching the traditional Xiaomi colours) that might be used to ship the latest Xiaomi smartphone in.

Launching on the 22nd, the Xiaomi Mi4c is rumoured to come with a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 display, Snapdragon 808 six-core chipset, 3GB RAM, 32GB memory and a 3120Ah battery. Pricing is rumoured to be as low as 1499 Yuan but may increase to 1899 for a 64GB version.

They done that already way back with the Note Pro…

I liked the plain cardboard. It gives off a quality vibe, the old classic style.

What you call recycled cardboard is just kraft paper, and it is not recycled (although it can be, it is usually not). The Brown color makes most people think it’s natural, it’s just green washing. Trust me, I worked in packaging area, lot of customers asked for this.

Except for Xiaomi actually uses recycled cardboard…

I dont really care about the packaging so much. Meizu has the best IMO in terms of design and durability. What I do care about is what is included. one thing I love about companies like Gionee is they give you everything you need to get started: screen protectors, a tpu case (sometimes 2), heaphones and sometimes something extra like an OTG connector. Xiaomi includes nothing.

I got my Xiaomi Note 2 with 2 screen protectors + a tempered glass screen protector + TPU case and of course a charger and cable. Yes the headphone were missing but I’d rather get my own I think and I’m sure I can find some good ones pretty cheap, even locally.

I’m not sure if it’s really Xiaomi that included these or if it was just the Aliexpress seller being nice ( but I’m buying from him again anyway beacause I was very pleased with how fast I got it and also the not cutoms to EU )

Xiaomi gives you the charger and usb cable (or not even that in the case of the bluetooth speaker for example). the case and screenprotectors def. came from the seller.

Those were thrown in by the resellers. All the unboxings I have seen the Note 2 is the same old Xioami with nothing but the charger included.

Bought it on Aliexpress from Shenzhen Chigon Technology Co., Ltd. and it was a really pleasant experience … Also they did have them in stock like they said, I was a bit afraid they were lying about having the Xiaomi Note 2 in stock but I got it like 10 days after making the order , by DHL, right at my workplace.

You’re welcome. Hopefully more sellers will understand that a happy customer is good for business as he can recommend them.
An unsatisfied one however… that’s bad business

I just hope that after resellers the 32gb version will not exceed $260,but IMO the price will be around $290. I mean by adding $50+ then you get a flahship with better performance and build quality. I know that resellers will inflate the price like they do as always. So, I will pass my turn on that too but I am really pissed off cos I was waiting for that device since it was rumored. I seriously believe that resellers are killing the market. Good job resellers, enjoy the money!

does anybody really care about packaging? for sure, keep the packaging sturdy so the device won’t break during transit but this better not cost us anything. LOL.
