Meizu Metal in stock from $219.99

meizu metal

Meizu’s latest all metal smartphone, the Meizu Metal is now in stock with prices starting from only $219.99.

The Meizu Metal is the top of the range Meizu Meilan phone. It takes the affordability of the M2 and fuses it with the security features and all metal build of the Meizu Pro 5. In fact the specs of the Meizu Metal are so close to the Meizu MX5 that it might make more sense to opt for this phone than the more expensive flagship.

A 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 FHD display, Mediatek Helio X10 chipset and Meizu mTouch 2.1 fingerprint security are all available on the metal phone just as they are on the Meizu MX5, and while the Metal doesn’t have laster focus it does boast a super fast focus speed of only 0.2 seconds.

The only major difference between this and the MX5 is the camera and RAM. I am not into the whole “more MP’s means a better camera” argument but I am very interested to see how this camera holds up against the excellent camera on the MX5. I’m also to see the major difference of the YUN OS based Flyme. In that metallic Blue though it does look good.

There is another difference, the MX5 uses an AMOLED screen.

I expect a full shootout lol. Battery, display, performance. Also how is the camera on the Gionee S6 compared to MX5?

The YunOS underpinnings are what really put me off, to be honest, though. I’ve heard wildly varying reports on inter-operability between YunOS and Android proper and really can’t get a solid answer on how big a difference it is. The M2 Note is a great device and has been serving me well, and the Metal was a really tempting prospect as a minor but stylish upgrade. But without a clearer understanding of the YunOS factor or an option of a Flyme powered by regular Android, I’m going to hold off. My hope is, if they do try to take the Metal into other markets, including India, that we might see a regular Android flavour pop up.

I’ve used Yun OS in the past and actually liked it a lot. Google Play is compatible with it.

guys we can’t spect it to be cheaper than the MX5 while at the same time having all the same power spec’s as the mx5 does. i’m glad they came to something nice into my reach while packing an X10 FHD and Fingerprint stuff.

It has about 75% of what the MX5 offers. For the price it appears to be a great deal, still need to read Yashs review though. He is an MX5 user so it should be a good review to compare the two.
