12371119_1080031302027823_7640837656213515130_oThe P9000 series from Elephone happens to be one of the most anticipated lineup of phones. While to-be buyers and enthusiasts wait for the official launch, Elephone has decided to give the lineup a bit of a refresh.

Gizchina News of the week

Before you think that there’s hardware changes taking place, let me tell you that it’s only the names of the phones that are going to be different from what they were before today.

The ex-P9000 will now be the P9000 Edge; the ex-P9000 Lite will now be simply the P9000; the ex-P9000C will now be the P9000 Lite. Pretty darn confusing indeed!

P9000 series: Something to help:

Old Name

  1. Elephone P9000
  2. Elephone P9000 Lite
  3. Elephone P9000C

New Name

  1. Elephone P9000 Edge
  2. Elephone P9000
  3. Elephone P9000 Lite

The ‘Edge’ suffix is probably to emphasise the bezel-free nature of the P9000 Edge. We shall see!

That isn’t all. Elephone have also an announcement scheduled for 25th of December, when more details about these three phones are expected to be divulged.

What do you think of this (rather late) renaming from Elephone? Confused much?

Buying an Elephone device is a huge gamble which I would not suggest to anyone after my bad experience with a company. If you receive a broken phone like I did they won’t give you a replacement nor a refund.

Was that not a reseller issue rather than Elephone?

      • Milos Lukic
        December 22, 2015

The seller did not want to give me a refund because they know they will not suffer any consequences from the manufacturer.
Elephone asked me about the seller and I gave them all the information but they did nothing about it. They promised servise centers in Europe but they never opened any.
P9000 are expensive devices so people should think twice before ordering one.
Because manufacturer is the one that provides warranty, not the seller.

I dont know where do you live but where I live its always the seller, who provides the warranty and is legaly bound to do so….

You are correct but Elephone doesn’t have a reseller in my country so I had to order a phone from China.
If they have this kind of resellers then that hurts a reputation of their company. Becuse they represent their brand.
The phone was faulty on arrival. I did not even get a chance to properly use it.

              December 22, 2015

It is a huge problem and some resellers are far worse than others, but it certainly isn’t limited to Elephone, you could have bought any device and faced the same issue.

I am sure that’s true. It was my first time buying a Chinese phone, I did not expect a broken one to arrive. Now I lost my money and I have a worthless peice of plastic. And the worst thing is that the reseller and Elephone make me feel like it’s all my fault that they sent me a broken phone. And I should just forget about it.

              December 22, 2015

I can understand your feelings, but it’s as others already said: in this case, it’s reseller’s fault! That’s why we always should be careful who’s we’re handing our money to, the best price is often a trick for hiding no after-sale service… Also, always use paypal online: it would have solved all of your problems!

I know. But I bought this on a flash sale, through a reseller promoted on Elephone’s website.

I know, it’s tricky as hell… You think “official” means “reliable”, but rarely it’s so, on the internet :-/
Just saying, the “italian official elephone’s reseller” makes like triple the price and offer no real after-sale support, still it’s “official”… Just learn the golden rules: “always use paypal”, and “no mercy with reseller: they won’t have it for you” 😀

also if you use Aliexpress, remember to keep an eye for the claim period, my wife buys stuff there to resell and constantly they have to cancel or get refunds and they don’t use PayPal but they solve their problems timely… so just be aware of stuff…

I have same issue with a $110 sports camera I recently bought. I was offered return and credit (at my risk and bearing in mind it’s illegal to send batteries or cameras to China from UK), or keep failed item and buy another at the ‘reduced’ cost of $80 or just accept $20 credit (complete joke). Contract is with reseller and though manufacturer was helpful in confirming initial fault, they have no other liability. I returned the item, but all the reseller needs to do is claim they didn’t receive it for it to be a total. That’s the gamble, first failure I had in 15 purchases, but now I’ve had two in a row…

How did you pay for the phone? You could look into either a chargeback, or file a dispute if you paid by PayPal. That’s why I always use PayPal when buying online; if the seller decides to fuck you over at least you got PayPal to back you up.

              December 22, 2015

I bought it on AliExpress so I had to use Ali Pay. I don’t belive they offer that kind of protection that PayPal offers. But I’ll research a little. As I said it was on a flash sale and that was the only store that still had available units. They were promoted on Elephone’s website so I trusted them :/

Thanks for your reply. Now I know not to trust Alipay. Well, if you paid for Alipay with a credit card, the next step would be to try to file a chargeback with your bank. A phone is no small amount of money; I hope things go your way!

Alipay is actually very safe. Sorry u guys had a bad experience. But when it comes to refund, aliexpress has been the best for me.

True AliPay is very good. They actually won’t give the seller the money till you say you got the phone and al is good. Also You can open a dispute and if you upload a picture or video they will refund your money my friend.

      December 22, 2015

      That would be news here.
But in other news; S7yler’s Elephone M2 samples look great and the leaked Vowney ones even better.

        December 22, 2015

wait … Vowney is STILL ALIVE ?!

i heard the m2 had a decent camera … but how good , considering it is still elephone.

        • Steve B
          December 22, 2015

Vowney is alive and well and (some at least) in hands of resellers it appears. Official dispatch date is 30th Dec.
          S7ylers M2 sample: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/19oa158x81nlz/Elephone_M2_Camera_Samples
(I think these are really good, better than other IMX214 cams at same price)
          leaked Vowney samples: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/kj3s9ug9njeyt/Elephone_Vowney_Camera_Samples

            December 22, 2015

vowney looks good but at that chunky price i expect it to have ATLEAST a 6p lens setup with OIS and some good algos ! Low-light performance not present in the samples , so unless we see that , no final word on vowney camera yet …

            M2 looks above decent but v.few low-light pics :/
other features should be very good if this phone wants to bring up the sales count …
whats it retailing for at the cheapest ?

            • Steve B
              December 23, 2015

$178 at Everbuying or Gearbest is lowest I can find, but I would hope it would go back down to presale $149 price point eventually.

          December 22, 2015

I have the M2 at hand. Its nice. Buy overall I think the K3 Note camera is better.

          • Steve B
            December 23, 2015

That would be an interesting comparison to see. How does the rest of the ‘package’ compare?

            • mf1gt3r
              December 23, 2015

Battery life is good (considering its just 2600mah). Few minutes between the K3 Note and the Elephone M2 when it comes to onscreen time. Sound is ok both from external and 3.5mm jack sound is louder than that of the k3 Note and screen is great. Ultimately the only thing that has disappointed me so far has been low light photography. Just too noisy for my taste.

            • Steve B
              December 23, 2015

Thanks for that. IMX214 really needs OIS for decent lowlight, despite the claims that this is where it improved massively on the IMX135, I don’t see it. That’s why it really annoys me regarding the recent false OIS claims thrown around by Bluboo, Inew and Ubro.

I have the M2 for a lmost a week and i love it. It replaces the LG G3 and it is so much faster and smoother then it! I know unbelievable but still true. Camera is pretty damn good IMO.

        • Steve B
          December 23, 2015

That’s good to know. I recently picked up an LG Flex 2 for very low price and (same as G3 I presume) that’s very good for photos thanks to the OIS+ and reliable old IMX135, but to hear the M2 is overall better experience is very positive.

The Edge may still be X20, whilst the others P10. Both are world RF band mode so able to sell into America.
