Elephone confirm that the Vowney is still on the way… again

elephone vowney hands on photos

Elephone are set to break a new record with the Elephone Vowney which is now scheduled to ship on 30th December, a year after it was initially teased!

Late 2014 was the first time we heard that Elephone were working on a new phone that would feature high end hardware. As the teasers and leaks continued through the first few months of 2015 that mystery phone became the Vowney, and word of both a Windows and Android version of the phone came and went.

Elephone decided to create just a single Android version of the Vowney finally, and those of you who have already paid for your pre-sale model should finally receive it on the 30th December according to the latest news from the phone maker.

Gizchina News of the week

Elephone say that the delay is to work out a few more bugs in the system, which on one hand seems like a fair point, but then again this is a phone that we have seen 12 months of rumours and teasers about!!

Elephone Vowney 2K hands on

If you are waiting for the 2K equipped, Helio X10 powered, 21 mega-pixel phone then we certainly hope the wait is going to be worth it.

I don’t believe the statements about bugs, I think it’s down to sourcing components at a price to make a profit on. They are using off the shelf products with reference drivers for industrial partners, so how hard can it be. I do agree they were improving the camera modes and getting around NFC pick-up signal quality regarding their phone-shell design.

Now people will be asking if the Black option is on top of the existing Gold and Grey, or will it replace the Grey. The Smoky-Grey was luxury looking.

The Vowney is like the Yetti/Big Foot. Many claim to have seen it, but no one has definitive proof of it’s existence. Occasionally you see a screen shot claiming to be it and even have loyal followers that buy into every press release (see the comment below mine).

    As a side note:

Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays to all my friends (and a few enemies lol) here. Hope you all get to spend some quality time with family or friends and I will see you next year, unless I get bored with family.

Nope. I did cancel an order but placed a new one not so long ago with elephone.cc

I think the only way they can mess up is horrible manufacturing or bad choices with colours, etc. The Vowney still has great good-will so it should be successful on the likes of XDA to warrant its own forum and good community support.

Hows the 6″er (Blu Pure XL)? Are you enjoying it?

Such a device on time I mean ON TIME would be lovely adding a 64gb ROM +SD.card.reader remaining and maybe more battery, ((really a great reason to be called PRO)) so yes if something as such comes out and on time I will be glad if not I will wait for a MTK X20 BLACKBERRY PRIV 2 ???

I do like it a lot, just that i had to pay more for it anyways. about 75 more. its 350 on amazon USA and then 26 taxes and then 10 shipped to my country as i use a mail box in miami wich then send stuff to my country. you should investigate if such service exist in your country,

well i would encourage you anyways to FIRST off try http://www…willmyphonework..net to confirm that the frecuencies of any given phone would work with your carrier, as it is very frustrating to end up with a nice phone that you can’t fully enjoy. by the way should you check the ALLVIEW X2 XTREME and see if you get better luck with that one

Blu have started to sell a few low end phones through Amazon UK so there’s a small possibility we might get Pure XL.

As a honest tech enthusiast , i can gauge by the long delay and the embarrassing reassurances , that Elephone bit off more than they could chew.
The dual boot or windows/Android phones thingy really got them a challenge… along with choosing a CPU that wasn’t gonna be available for sometime to them.

    its a massive screw-up. simple.

Maybe In the end , people will get their Vowneys. It may even turn out to be an outstanding device. Perhaps the best yet to come out carrying the company’s banners !
But it will do so at a great cost … and that was killing the buzz by a set of horrendous and thankless delays.

The dual boot version would seriously had revolutionised the world. My pet theory is that they took those plans down because Microsoft would simply sell them no licence for that particular intented purpose. It’s no secret after all that the first Windows 10 (non WP) running phone would most possibly be the Surface phone; it would had been a shame if an uknown Chinese company were to steal their thunder.

In any case , imagine “project continuum” with real desktop apps. ” Now it’s your phone, now it’s your desktop computer”

Indeed the rumours were that it is running Z3580 like Asus Zenphone 2 which was released around that time. Here:

        http://www.coolicool.com/elephone-vowney-pro-4gb-intel-z3580-23ghz-quad-core-55-inch-2k-ips-screen-android-51-win10-4g-l-g-40452

BTW Z3580 is faster than Cherry trail that most Windows tablets are using these days. So imagine a 1440p phone with one of the fastest Intel mobile SoCs with 4gb of Ram dual booting windows.

The uses would have been incredible. Boot on Android use it as a phone, boot it on Desktop Windows use it as your PC, either by connecting to a monitor, or by “wearing” it in your face (phone VR cradle), at 1440p it would have been great looking…

Too bad it got cancelled, now all we get is a bad imitation of others’ phones.

If they haven’t gotten their act together within 32 hours from now, then I will start advertising against Elephone, and I will start a PayPall claim, to get my money back.
