Huawei P9 leaks yet again: Kirin 955, multiple variants, and more!

Huawei is all set to launch its flagship P9 very soon. However, thanks to continuous leaks and rumours emerging from China, we’re able to take a look at the phone sooner than the company planned.

Fresh news from Huawei’s home country is that the phone will have not a 2K display, but a 1080p one akin to the Xiaomi Mi 5. While I’m sure most would agree that it makes sense for companies to use 1080p panels instead of 2K ones, it is surprising to see many brands adopt the policy because of what’s been going on lately (read: spec wars).

Since the Mate series looks after Huawei’s phablet customers, the Huawei P9 will have a smaller — a 5.2-inch — screen. If the leaks are anything to go by, it’ll be powered by a 2.3-2.5GHz Huawei HiSilicon Kirin SoC… along with 4GB RAM.

Moving on, the leaks also point at multiple variants that the phone might have. The model numbers — EAV-AL10, EAV-AL00, VNS-AL00 and VNS-CL00 — could point to the various network and configuration sets that might feature on the P9. Word is that there’s also going to be a ‘Youth’ version of the phone.

Besides this, the leaks suggest that the P9 have an 8 mega-pixel front facing camera and a 12 mega-pixel rear camera (with another sensor joining in for a dual-camera setup), besides 4GB RAM.

In all, the Huawei P9 is certainly shaping up to be a monster… not only for its future buyers, but also for companies like Xiaomi that have a vested interest in this year’s flagship after skipping a launch in 2015.

The p series never had the newer kirin soc possible, so a 950 is more likely I think.
The double camera set up is really interesting, it should be better than the one on honor 6+ (and that one was fairly good I’ve heard).
Hope they’ll go for the right battery this year, something missing both on p8 and mate s…

Not to big of a battery because I don’t like thick phones.

Come on, there are plenty of 2D phones with no battery at all, i hope someone will try to differentiate himself from the others!
If you want a nice looking phone you can’t do anything with, you can always buy a lumia or a broken samsung s6 edge! ?

I disgust Samsung and don’t like Windows on a smartphone, I love a long lasting phone, who wouldn’t but with a bigger battery makes the phone thicker and i would get anything that’s more then 6.5mm thin.

The P8 launched with the Kirin 930 which was the top of the line Kirin SoC, the 935 was a slightly higher clocked 930, there was really no real world difference between the two. The P7 launched with the 910T which was the top Kirin SoC at the time.

So i got confused it seems: i remeber the p7 launched when the 920 was already out… Probably i don’t remember the right thing.

Honor 6+ cameras are a joy to use, but are mostly for macro shots, regular photos are ok, not flagship level, but the macros are simply amazing.

Well, 6+ is honor, it wasn’t meant to be “flagship level” I think, just “better than average” (and I think it delivers here). But p8 has already a great camera, just imagine how good it can get with the dual set up after 2 more years of engineering (that’s the reason why it wasn’t implemented on the p8 already)

“the Huawei P9 is certainly shaping up to be a monster”

How is this a “monster” ? Specifications indicate a typical package for a 2016 phone.

It will be a monsta because 4X A72 + 4X A53 on a FullHD panel will not only fly, but will draw little power at it, while providing enough screen resolution for 99.5% of users’.
Battery life is consistently the #1 worry of smartphone owners on polls.
      Kudos Huawei.
