UMi Touch shows promising battery performance

umi touch hands on

UMi are giving out results of a battery test that they have recently performed on the UMi Touch and the results seems pretty good.

Before we even begin, these results should be taken with a pinch of salt as the tests were carried out by UMi themselves, but hopefully they give an accurate indication of what the UMi Touch’s battery if is like.

According to UMi the UMi Touch will have a 4000mAh battery, which is on par with the battery size found in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, and through the companies own testing the battery managed to drop just %55 in 5 hours of heavy use and 10 hours of standby.

Gizchina News of the week

umi touch battery

The test was split in to the following:

  • 30min web browsing = 4%
  • 30min video streaming = 5%
  • 1 hours music = 8%
  • 1 hour gaming = 10%
  • 30 min reading = 4%
  • 1 hour video call = 3%
  • 30 min photos and video = 10%
  • 30 min cell calls = 8%
  • 10 hours standby = 3%

By UMi’s own admission some of the results aren’t as good as they hoped, but still with these results a user should be able to expect at least 2 days of continued use from the UMi Touch on a single charge.

What do you make of these results?

Does it still have that crapware Cooe Launcher or whatever it is? That’s my biggest issue with the only Umi phone I bought (not for me).

Who cares? Just install Nova Launcher. The important thing is that the entire OS is a pure Android, not some crap garage distribution.

The base launcher still overrides Nova Launcher and send crap notifications and adds crapware shortcuts everywhere, so no. The only way to get rid of it would be to root and remove the launcher itself. This is the the C1, so I have no idea if this crap still happens in the newer phones.

Well if I’m going to buy this phone, I’ll root it on day one so no problem. What you’ll lose when we don’t have warranty anyway. Ok I know usually 1 year limited warranty depending of the store.

4000 mA battery can only play five hours of video, which is not a good performance.

Read article carefully and ignore stupid comments. It says 30 min. video streaming eats 5% battery, it means it can stream 10 hours of video!

Stop bashing each other dudes, clearly said don’t expect a miracle from Umi Touch or any other phone with the same battery capacity: you’ll get around 5-6 screen on time on average, that’s it.

          30min video streaming = 5%
Aha, you’re right, but you ignore the 30-minute video call has only 3% of the electricity consumption, and a 30-minute video, pictures and even consume 10%, which is the logic? It tests your IQ.

Also, the battery will not always follow a loss of speed, lower power loss faster is not always the average.

Read again: 5 hours of video and 10 of standby with 55% of battery left… It’s not bad, but it’s THEIR test, so it can be a fake (and usually is)

Was interested in Redmi note 3 for battery, but after many people are posting about their poor battery life using the phone I’m looking elsewhere. Too bad…Umi Touch is actually nice and has the potential to be a great phone, also the Ulefone Power and Oukitel K6000 and the Pro version which is going to be released after a few days.

Redmi Note 3 Pro (With Snapdragon 650) can do up to 10h of Screen Time and about 1d11h total time. Helio X10 version has problems in standby mode.

      • Mr.Flying Zoom3rz
        March 24, 2016

But then may be all X10 phones are having such an issue? This needs to be confirmed as it’s a critical issue. Well this is kind of good news as I’m more interested in the SD650 version.

I didn’t have problems with my battery on my redmi note 3, mtk version, I had 1 full day and sometimes even 2 depending on the usage.

            How much screen on time?

              March 26, 2016

              About 4h55mins most of the times some times.5:15 or so… In a BLU Pure XL 6″ 2K screen mtk.X10 3gbRam and 3500mah.

              March 26, 2016

Well this is a good result for having a 2k resolution on a large 6″ screen. Currently I can get only 4h sot on average from my 2900mah K3 Note’s battery. I’m looking for a new phone below $250 with a good battery/performance ratio. I think Redmi Note 3 Pro 32gb is a good option what do you think? I’m also looking into Ulefone Power and Oukitel K6000 Pro, but it’s still not released.

I had the mtk version, now I have the pro one, 2gb 16 rom, I don’t see any differences in terms of speed and use, both are very fast. I love the camera on the pro, on the mtk I didn’t used it that much so I don’t remember how it was, battery was very good on both. Now I want to buy one from this list :
Leco Le Max 2, Zuk Z2 Pro, Vernee Apollo, Huawei P9, P9 plus, Gionee s8, One Plus 3, Meizu Pro 6, Meizu Edge, Xiaomi mi5 Pro, OPPO Find 9 Advance edition, Vivo x5 xtreme edition.

I don’t know exactly, I usually charge it once a day and sometimes it gets me 1.5 day but I haven’t had problems with the battery, no drain in mine, everything works perfect.
