Third OTA firmware update for UMI Touch is going live

Seems like UMI engineers are subjected to many and many sleepless nights, because not that long after the release we have already the third OTA firmware upgrade for the UMI Touch handset. And looks like they are even listening to the customer feedback and wishes so cheers for that.

Third update depicted v3.03_20160415 should be fixing problems with third party applications, bugs with the camera, random glitches of the fingerprint scanner during unlocking and Wallapaper update.

Gizchina News of the week

How to proceed with the installation of this OTA update ? Go to Settings > About phone > Wireless update > Check for update > Done.

It’s very clear that UMI are planning to support and polish the Touch model with frentic pace so more updates surely to follow soon.

    Seriously, what’s the point of having an article about OTA updates for (not only) Umi?

      I quite like it, its highlighting for me that there are companies out there like UMi who release updates for their devices to improve them…

      Unlike Zopo for example…

          Oh no, I do too, with SwissPost or something? But it isn’t actually a valid tracking number is it…

          I’ll contact TomTop about it…

            you have to track it by Directlink” or you can track it directly if you rename tracking numer like this:

            Q1843845285XX -> RE843845285SE
            (Q1 -> RE, XX -> SE),

            after that you can track it by 17track etc.

            SwissPost are serious company and they ship very fast. I believe the problem is in TomTop website. Nothing unusual mate, they’re just like Gearbest. Banggood FTW! 😀

      I agree with Adam this is a good thing. It is showing us that UMi is becoming serious about software. Many of these smaller companies release a phone and then never release software updates.

        Change a way of thinking, they are updated three times a month, indicating their pre-delivery software is not perfect, there are a lot of bug, but in order to delivery, they put out incomplete software release, hope that this update 5 months will continue, rather than as a marketing tool.

          Better than shipping a phone with pre-delivery software that isn’t perfect and never updating it like several companies in this industry do. And most software isn’t perfect pre-delivery including that from Samsung, LG, Xiaomi, HTC etc. Android is an ever changing environment that always needs updating.

    Clearly this is a great sign- for one this is one of the few phones rocking Android M, boasts great build quality at entry to mid level smartphone prices with near flagship level specs (for its price).

    Chinese boutique phone manufacturers were never known for their software updates, premium build quality in the past and this is a clear deaprture in their strategy to differentiate, survive and thrive!

    Is it the OTA update for Android M? But among the popular mid-range smartphones, I love OUKITEL K6000 Pro better. And I got news from OUKITEL facebook that it is only $149.99.
