Chinese company launches smartwatch controlled drone, beats Xiaomi while at it

If ever there’s a Xiaomi drone in the making, it’s taking its own sweet time coming. Rumours about the drone having the ability to be controlled via the Mi Band have been floating around, but the aircraft is yet to be seen.

While Xiaomi prepared its drone for takeoff (if at all, that is), another Chinese company worked overtime to have a similar product launched today. Known as the FLYPRO XEagle, the drone comes with a smartwatch that lets you control the drone.

The drone itself is made primarily for aerial video and photography, and comes in four variants — Lite, Sport, Advanced and Professional, out of which the last one features obstacle avoidance while the others have 4K cameras.

The smartwatch comes with some buttons on it, but if you like, you could also speak your command into the watch and see the drone react right away.

The company says that it’s focusing on creating drones that will catch the fancy of hobbyists. Shipment and pricing haven’t been announced yet, but should be soon.
