Regular readers will have already seen the Xiaomi Max leaked yesterday where we saw plenty of new details, but a new TENAA listing gives us an even better view of the big phone.
Xiaomi are planning to go big, really big, with a new product named the Xiaomi Max. The Max is due to launch on 10th May at which time we may also see a new Xiaomi Mi Band too.
The Max though is the focus of this article, and for those of you interested in a mid-range phablet the following images and details are surely going to be of interest.
As we had already seen, the rear of the Max is all metal and looks like an oversize Redmi 3 plus rear fingerprint scanner and dual tone LED flash.
The face of this version of the Xiaomi Max is white, but we suspect that Xiaomi might offer other colour combinations including black and pink too. Narrow borders look good on the phone, however as we saw yesterday the Xiaomi Max’s screen does appear to have black borders too.
Gizchina News of the week
2 versions of the Xiaomi Max are expected to launch both with a 6.4-inch FHD display, Snapdragon 650 chipset and rear 16 mega-pixel camera. Both phones will have a 4000+ man battery and run MIUI based on Android 6.0.1 but RAM will be different with options for either a 2GB or 3GB model.
We will have to wait until the launch day, but pricing is rumoured to start from just 1299 Yuan.
The black borders ruin in for me. The ones saw on that vid yesterday are hideous.
Those black border already spotted at first leak of the front panel.
I want the source please
The source is TENAA, they certify all Chinese phones before they can be sold.
Such beasty display could be a game changer if keeping it with one hand would still feel comfy which means that total width of the phone is minimized. Thus no black borders in the display and no white borders in the phone. Also, the height of the phone should be kept in check. We need bezeless design with reasonable size and weight, otherwise no deal Xiaomi.
Prepare to be disappointed.
Hi, what you would chose between Redmi 3 Pro and the Note 3 Pro from Xiaomi? I am hesitating between those 2 phones, the Redmi 3 Pro is compact and is cheaper. It has a SAR value of 1.33 which is high. The SAR value is lower for the Note 3 Pro. I do prefer the Note 3 Pro but it is bigger. I am not a gamer, I will use the phone for calls internet…
I have Redmi 3 (not Pro) and Redmi 3 Note Pro. I would choose Note 3 Pro over Redmi 3 Pro without hesitation. Note 3 Pro are much faster and the battery life is more or less equal.
Thank you, is the Note 3 Pro bulky phone? I am planning to use it with a silicone thin case, do you think it will be a huge problem?
It is not any bulkier than any other 5.5″ phone. I also have a Nexus 6 and a 6 inch screen is almost to big for me but 5.5 inch is just fine. I do not play any games but Note 3 Pro feels a lot faster (buttery smooth) when doing basic tasks (not lag at all) compared to Redmi 3 who has some lag even when just doing basic tasks. I also feel that the build quality is a bit better on Redmi 3 Note Pro.
Thank you, it seems that you have the first version of Redmi 3. I was interested by the Pro version with 3gb ram and 32gb storage. This one has a fingerprint scanner like the Note 3 Pro
and its built quality is similar to the Note 3 Pro. Just a shame that they did not upgraded the CPU to SD625 at least. Anyway will think about it before to make my decision.
Definitely the redmi note 3 man! You will enjoy the bigger screen even in any use of apps or internet browsing!
It’s not that big in my opinion! Pretty good size!
Thank you for your help! I am planning to use it with a silicone thin case, do you think it will be a huge problem? I am scared that the phone will be wider and difficult to hold with one hand while using it. Some people recommended me smaller phone because they are better for real life usage. They said Note 3 Pro is too big that’s why I am asking advice.
Keep in mind with SAR values they record the highest possible value, often times phones operate well below. Just because the SAR is lower for one phone it doesn’t mean that phone has less exposure. A phone with a higher value can give you less exposure, a lot can factor into it.
Thank you Balco! If you were in my position what would you chose between the phones listed above? I do like Note 3 Pro specifications but I never had a phablet before. In terms of performance Note 3 Pro beats Redmi 3 Pro easily. Moreover, Note 3 Pro has a better screen resolution. I have been able to hold an LG G4 which has a size pretty close to Note 3 Pro in order to make my decision. I also tried a Huwaei P9 in a shop and my preference goes to Huawei P9 thanks to its compact size. Unfortunately I do not have the money for the P9. Huawei G9 has been announced but is already listed at $320. It is tough to make the right decision. Redmi 3 Pro has an unbeatable price but I am wondering if the screen quality is good.
I haven;t used either so I can’t really say. But one of the guys here has a Redmi Note 3 Pro, his name is MaxPower, he can tell you all about it. Look through the comments sections he posts pretty regularly.
Ok thank you, after reading your recent comments it seems that you are planning to get a new device. Which phone are you going to buy?
I currently have it narrowed down to 4 (unless something new comes out to change my mind lol);
1. Zuk Z2
2. Huawei P9
3. Meizu Pro 6
4. Nexus 6P
Amazing list, lucky you if you could get one of these. I have tested the Huawei P9 today in a shop here in Paris and it is an amazing device. Regarding the camera, I took some pictures in low light condition and the picture quality was outstanding. I compared with Samsung S7 and figured out that P9 was a lot better. Moreover the compact design and built quality of the P9 is speechless. Maybe it is better to wait for reviews before you decide. If I had enough money I would chose the Zuk Z2 for its design and bigger battery.
A few people answered me here and suggested me to get the Note 3 Pro. I still haven’t decided but I have been able to use the LG G4 who is pretty close to the Note 3 Pro in terms of size. I think Note 3 Pro is bulky compared to G4 that’s why I am hesitating.
I am wondering if Xiaomi will announce a 5.2 inch midrange phone on May 10. I might be also tempted by the standard version of the Zuk Z2 with 3gb ram but don’t know when it will be released.
I am left with Redmi 3 Pro and Redmi Note 3 Pro.
I owned the P6 and used the P8 and both were exceptional devices in their own right. So I have no doubts about the P9, and reading reviews it pretty much seems like an excellent device. I am waiting on reviews of the Zuk Z2 before I make my decision and possible to see what the One Plus 3 brings to the table.
Make your homework Xiaomi and wake me up when you have what I want.
Will this use USB Type-C?
4000+ man battery?!?!
Shit! That’s a lot of horsepower or should I say menpower!
I want a good 7 INCH PHONE!!! WHRRE ARE YOU? THEY WERE EVERYWHERE A FEW YEARS AGO!!!
