‘Euro Edition’ of the UMi Super will support US & Canadian LTE bands

UMi have been pretty aggressive with the UMi Super marketing. We recently got hold of the phone, and have been putting it through theΒ paces… meanwhile, there’s some news from the UMi camps.

The recently announced ‘Euro Edition’ of the UMi Super will support LTE bands in the US and Canada, we’re told. UMi also mention that the phone will go on pre-sale starting next week, with shipments scheduled for later.

The Super comes with a MediaTek MT6755 Helio P10 processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB on-board storage, a 13 mega-pixel rear camera, 5 mega-pixel front facing camera, a 4000mAh battery, and of course, a fingerprint sensor.

A review of the Super should be up anytime now (pester Martin if you want it quick)! Meanwhile, UMi are also giving you a chance to get one for free on their website.

Dear Andi, who is this site editor? Please tell responsible person to stop umi ads. This site started to suck. I think I won’t follow this site near future.

Are they not supposed to report news related to UMi who is a Chinese phone brand?

I agree about the articles written by Karel, but Yash simply reported something that is relevant. He isn’t praising UMi, he wrote this objectively.

The whole Euro thing as Andi points out makes me kind of suspicious. But if it’s true it is good that more Chinese brands are starting to adopt US/Canada LTE bands. If UMi can do it there is literally no excuses left for a company like Xiaomi.

Redmi Note 3 Pro has US LTE.

No it does not. It has Bands, 1, 3, 5, 7 and 8. For it to work in the US it would need Bands: 2, 4, 12, and 17.

Balco, you know your stuff but not in this case. The SD650 Global and Taiwan editions have band 4 for Tmobile. The Taiwan one also has Band 20 for Europe.

I guess you found the proof. I agree, if they offered those bands they’d go nuclear.

            From the Xiaomi Tawian website:

            FDD-LTE (band Bl, B3, of B7)
            the TD-the LTE (band the B38, B39, and B40, B41 of)
            the TD-SCDMA (band cylinder B34, B39)
            the WCDMA (Bl / B2 / B5 / B8) 850/900/1900 / 2100MHz
            GSM (band B2, B3, B5, B8) 850/900/1800 / 1900MHz

            No Band 4 LTE.

I have to admit I really like the colour, makes a change from the run of the mill black/white/silver.

Any chance you will be reviewing a Gionee S8? I used one at MWC but since then it’s been like a mystery device around the web.

          • June 30, 2016

Don’t think so, Gionee’s suddenly shifted it’s focus to fairly entry level phones here and honestly it’s a bit too quiet from their end to expect a sample of the S8. Their high end devices are generally well received by critics but the sales often don’t match, so I’m guessing they’re trying to experiment a bit with their marketing for now and thus, focus on more affordable phones.

Totally agree! This Blue color looks really cool, but UMi is making shitty phones anyway… LOOOL.
