Haha, I wish. Galaxy S6 and Mi5. Basically 1 mainstream flagship, 1 chinese flagship. I’m looking into a chinese mid ranger now to play with really. This one seems promising tho. I’ll probably get this redmi note pro. we’ll see. What’s yours?

          don’t ask (Nokia 105 , altho i use a HTC Cha Cha for mp3 and what not ? )

Redmi pro looks all set to be my v.first smartphone … but only if i can get the quid in time ?

            July 27, 2016

That’s old school. haha. Why wait this long tho? Xiaomi should be a good phone to start with but Xiaomi is no raw AOSP. I, personally, prefer AOSP over any skin but apparently I got a soft spot for MIUI. Been using it since MIUI V3

    3GB + 32GB 1499RMB, the price a little expensive.

    • Hakim Farouk
      July 27, 2016

Yeah, the lowest range one is about the price of LeEco X20 phones. Can go slightly lower tho.

    • SnowyCat
      July 27, 2016

yeah so expensive for what you might getting..i might jsut buy the samsung s7 for the same price i guess..or wait..not? the only things cheaper are crappy elephones?

No word on fast charging, so I assume it is not on board…
I had high expectations on this model but high price, lack of fast charging and to big screen made me sceptic.
Also(aside of its dual camera benefits) main camera sensor is far from today’s high end standards- it is the same sensor that is in Mi4c..

      Nonsense

      • Nick
        July 27, 2016

        What exactly?

        • MaxPower
          July 27, 2016

The SoC supports Pump Express ™ technology. Don’t assume there’s no support just for the fact that they didn’t mention it.

Thy price starts at 1499¥ which is in line with any midranger.

Camera sensor also is in line with any other midranger.

          • Nick
            July 27, 2016

Yes SoC supports fast charging, but it doesnt mean phone has such feature.
Looks like it does not, cause if there was fast charging feature I am sure it would be highlighted in presentation as it is noticable advantage…

            • balcobomber25
              July 27, 2016

Took me exactly 2 minutes to go to their website and find out it supports 5V/2A charging which is fast charge.

It probably wasn’t mentioned in their presentation because it’s really not a feature anymore, just about every new phone coming out supports some form of fast charging. Unless it’s something like Oppo VOOC it isn’t really needed to be mentioned.

            • Muhammad Yasir
              July 27, 2016

does the cheapest variant offer fast charge or just the x25 version ?

also , how is VOOC worth the extra mention but MTK’s pump express not ?

            • balcobomber25
              July 27, 2016

They both do, the X20 and X25 are the same chip basically.

            • Muhammad Yasir
              July 27, 2016

you dint answer the vooc part *makes spongebob face*

            • balcobomber25
              July 27, 2016

VOOC is one of the fastest charging technologies presently available. VOOC differs from other fast charging tech in that they user higher levels of current whereas Pump Express and Quick Charge use higher levels of voltage.

if i buy the CHEAPEST variant ?

            • MaxPower
              July 27, 2016

I don’t see why they wouldn’t put fast charge on this one.
This a PRO version of their Redmi and they already put fast charge on their previous models with a Mediatek SoC.

      July 27, 2016

The X25 supports fast charge. So, don’t be too quick assume. How is X25 + Dual cam + 4GB RAM + 128GB + 4050mah at 1999 Yuan a high price?

      • Nick
        July 27, 2016

Yes SoC supports fast charging, but it doesnt mean phone has such feature.

With 1999 Yuan price tag was launched Mi5 with SD820, 4axis IOS, Fast Charging and NFC..

        • Hakim Farouk
          July 27, 2016

Does the Mi5 has Dual Cam, OLED, 4050mah, 128GB and 4GB ram? And mind that this is the highest range of the redmi series. 1999 yuan that you refer to is the lowest series on Mi5. Oh and they have a Hybrid sim slot and Mi5 doesn’t.

          • Nick
            July 27, 2016

Yes that’s true, but still I Was hoping they will price it more aggressively as they always did with Redmi devices…

            • Hakim Farouk
              July 27, 2016

Yeah, I was kinda too.. but still not that bad. I rather it be this than following the pricing of Huawei, Asus and etc nowadays.

    • Airyl
      July 27, 2016

X25 supports MTK’s Pump Express charging by default if I’m not wrong, and the camera performance really depends more on the optimizations at this point. A lot of phones had the IMX214, though some still took better pictures than others.

am i the only one dissapointed? Xiaomi Redmi NOTE 3 with Snapdragon 650 costs 150$. It scores 80k points in antutu. X20/X25 scores 80/100k and costs 250$.
What is more Adreno 510 is faster than X20’s Mali-T880 MP4.
So 100$ more is for dual camera, OLED and slower GPU

    • Alex
      July 27, 2016

I’m willing to pay $100 more for the camera. If it is as good as they say it is.

      • Hakim Farouk
        July 27, 2016

I don’t mind paying $40 more for the camera, $30 more for the OLED, $10 more the fingerprint with the home button at the front and $20 more for the bump in chipset. haha

        • realjjj
          July 27, 2016

          OLED means much lower quality.
If it’s OLED it’s Pentile and you get a 720p experience at 5.5 inch.
To put it in a simple way,for red and blue the resolution is 960×540.

          • Hakim Farouk
            July 27, 2016

OLED has better contrast than most displays. The black is more black and etc. I’ve used so many phones with OLED to know of its high quality. I have no energy to explain to an ignorant child so, please spare me some quiet time.

yes i said that it is stupid for LeEco to buy Vizio unless it is very cheap and i stand by that.
It was a big waste for LeEco to pay 2 billion for Vizio.
They have this irrational need to “win” in America and they did this but there are many better things one can do with 2 billion. Even more so for someone like LeEco that has overextended and it’s often at risk of running out of resources.

The buy was stupid, it wasn’t worth more than 1.5 billion.

I really never look at the screen quality. I can’t tell the difference. I’ve used iphone 6+ and i dont really care for screen quality. All i want is the latest android and a very good camera. Besides, 80% of the time i put the screen on the lowest brightness to save battery. For me the redmi pro would be perfect for me if the camera is good. But i won’t expect S7 quality but at least near the P9 and far from the redmi note 3 pro.

  9. realjjj
    July 27, 2016

    This event was horrible.
Anyway, plenty of negatives for this phone.Pentile , home button, the least original design they ever had, a main sensor that you find in 999CNY phones and the pricing is disappointing. At least they have microSD.
The 360 N4 at 899CNY has LCD so much better screen, 4GB, MT6797m, fast charging, same Sony sensor just no dual cam. Wasn’t expecting Xiaomi to beat it but they are at 66.6% more with a lesser product.

Worth noting that the 1499CNY has MT6797m at 2.1GHz
The 1699CNY has x20 AKA MT6797 at 2.3GHz even if Xiaomi calls it X25, it is not.

In other words, more of the usual from the resident Xiaomi hater.

      • realjjj
        July 27, 2016

I don’t hate Xiaomi at all and would be prefrable if you stop imagining things. My comment is on the merits of this device. I was hoping for Xiaomi to overtake Apple in units this year and said that many times in 2014. Sadly they messed up last year in many big ways, this year product design and pricing was a bit better but they are still lacking and the competition is more competent. The fact that their sales last year grew little , missing targets by a lot and this year sales are very weak makes it very clear that Xiaomi hasn’t been executing well.
It would help if you had some valid arguments to counter mine instead of accusing me of being partial. That’s just trolling and it’s easy to prove that i am more than happy to congratulate them when they have a good device.
But they rarely do now. The Redmi Note 2 , 3 and Pro were nice with the Pro being the leader in value for a while. Users don’t like what MIUI has become and the cam unfortunately. The Redmi 3 was not bad but they needed to get people to upgrade from 1s and for that they needed 1080p.
Anyway, if you have any arguments ,instead of imaginary accusations, we can converse.
Or maybe you are upset because you messed up yesterday by publishing false info and i dared to point that out? You made a huge mistake but that happens, just say thank you and move forward.

They sold 110 million in the Redmi range they didn’t need people to necessarily do anything. If a range is that popular you are going to make sure that people wont go looking somewhere else and that what Xiaomi have done. Given a great build and good camera for an competitive price. This is a mid-range phone the only thing that i cant see in the specs is NFC(could be wrong) and it wouldn’t surprise me it they brought out a snapdragon version. The Redmi note 3 has been very successful for them all they have done is build upon that

    July 27, 2016

Xiaomi literally have no clue about style consistency in their phone range, every time they release a new device it is something different. Big home button, small home button, no home button, back scanner, front scanner, big camera, small camera, brush metal, patterned metal, matt plastic, glass, curved glass etc etc no consistency at all just a mess of different medicore designs.

    • Hakim Farouk
      July 27, 2016

True. The redmi and the old mi series is sort of a design mess. Nice design on it’s own but no consistency in the range. The new design language of the mi5 is very similar to the mi note tho. hopefully they maintain thereon

      • sere83
        July 27, 2016

Nah mi5 looks horrendous, home button is so so ugly

        • Hakim Farouk
          July 27, 2016

That’s very subjective tho. It’s down to own individual liking.

          • sere83
            July 27, 2016

Well yes but at the same time a lot of people criticized the design specifically the home button, they did the same on the galaxy s5 which had a similar one.

            • Hakim Farouk
              July 27, 2016

But how can you really judge the scale of that. I mean, I can say there’s a lot of people in Miui Forum and etc whom were pleased with the design as well. The button feels and act no different than my Galaxy S6 though, besides the fact that my S6 having the button a little bigger than my Mi 5. No wrong, no right though. Just my personal opinion

            • sere83
              July 27, 2016

Yeah of course it is subjective, i mean some people like even worse phones that look hideously ugly , I just felt it was disappointing from a design stand point compared to other flagship devices on the market like pro6, op3, gs7 etc etc

            • balcobomber25
              July 27, 2016

I am not a huge fan of the Mi5 design but it does look better than some other flagships like G5 and then all the boring metal slabs like OP3/HTC10.

            • sere83
              July 28, 2016

haha wasn’t a fan of the G5 design but that was mainly the back of it, but there is no way the mi5 looks or is built better than either the OP3 or the HTC 10. The button on the front is just awful .

    • Airyl

That’s not necessarily a bad thing for us, though it is a bad thing for Xiaomi.

    • MattD
      July 27, 2016

I get your point, but I find it’s better than (let’s say) Samsung’s “same design on every device in the past 7 years” policy

      • sere83
        July 27, 2016

Well not really, the problem with Samsung is they are were basically sh*t at design until the S6. If they had decent designs to start with then it wouldn’t be an issue. Take meizu. They had to lose their halo button due to litigation, but now they have a consistent home button with multi functions and their whole range of phones look nice. If they could just make all their cameras class leading and squash bugs in their OS they would be the best.

        • Bailey
          July 27, 2016

But all there phones look the same and its getting boring Meizu are due for a change. The new Redmi had to look different as it the flagship of that range you would be the first to moan if it looked the same. And it fact it’s taken its cues from the Redmi 3 and the mi5

          • sere83
            July 27, 2016

Yeah but the styling can still be similar across all ranges or within ranges, like same camera size/position, same Fprint position, same navigation etc, same edge finishing, same back panel material. As it is xiaomi has no consistency at all. I Can’t fault meizu i like the clean style of their phones and the multi use home button, they have a distinct style and distinct navigation unique to them, xiaomi are just a mess.

            • Bailey
              July 28, 2016

I like Meizu but there design is tired how many more years can they continue with the same thing its boring. Who wrote the rule and said that because this phone belongs to this range it had to look the same

    • balcobomber25
      July 27, 2016

$225 is encroaching on Mi5 territory? Right now on resellers the cheapest Mi5 with 3/32 is selling for $316 (Kimovil price).

      • Jh1
        July 27, 2016

That’s after reseller mark up on the mi5. I’d be surprised if the base version of this redmi pro is actually available for under $280, at least for the first few months. X25 versions probably closer to $300

      • Jh1
        July 27, 2016

With that being said, if the camera ends up being as good as advertised, it is a worthy competitor to the mi5… I’m just not sold on the dual cam setup yet…. Need some reviews first

        July 27, 2016

            July 27, 2016

How is it a different thing? Are they not flagships? If anything, I’d say that the Mi5, Zuk 2 and etc prices are a bit on the mid ranger end, wouldn’t that make more sense?

            • MattD
              July 27, 2016

I answered to balco, read there what I meant

          • balcobomber25
            July 27, 2016

You did say this was a flagship price, and those are flagships….

            • MattD
              July 27, 2016

Yeah, but it’s unfair to compare western flagships’ price with chinese’s ones!
And, however, i didn’t say it has a flagship price, but “a bit on the flagship’s side”, because its price is higher than every redmi so far and it’s close to xiaomi’s own flagship. To put it in perspective, the price is much higher than redmi note 2, which also had mediatek’s top chip for the time.

That’s the thing: I was comparing a xiaomi phone with xiomi’s flagship, not the s7 or g5, which are other products from other companies with other markets!

            • SnowyCat
              July 27, 2016

maybe thats why its the redmi pro and not redmi note 4?

like i said the most expensive version that you compare it vs the mi 4 also has 4/128 vs 3/32 on the mi5

so you have more ram and way more storage and a huge battery

            • MattD
              July 27, 2016

Whatever you call it, it’s a mid-range nonetheless just like a redmi note! And the whole “comparing price” was meant on all of the models, not just the ones priced at the same: I still think that base model is relatively high when compared to base mi5, that’s supposed to be the flagships… Whether I’d pick this one over a mi5 even at the same price, that’s another story!

            • balcobomber25

  16. MattD
    July 27, 2016

Meh… Price is a bit high, what it offers doesn’t justify it imho… Camera’s set up isn’t impressive: the second sensor is mostly for bokeh, probably it won’t improve quality that much, so it’s up to main sensor (which is good, however)… It makes second camera not that useful… It’s almost the same as a single camera…

Overall, the note 3 pro is still a better deal, I think

No word on fast charging, so I assume it is not on board…
I had high expectations on this model but high price, lack of fast charging and to big screen made me sceptic.
Also(aside of its dual camera benefits) main camera sensor is far from today’s high end standards- it is the same sensor that is in Mi4c..

The X25 supports fast charge. So, don’t be too quick to assume. How is X25 + Dual cam + 4GB RAM + 128GB + 4050mah at 1999 Yuan a high price?

Looks like it does not, cause if there was fast charging feature I am sure it would be highlighted in presentation as it is noticable advantage.
With 1999 Yuan price tag was launched Mi5 with SD820, 4axis IOS, Fast Charging and NFC..

5V/2A so it’s mild fast charging.
      official specs here http://www.mi.com/redmipro/specs/

You might want to look at 360 N4 or N4S
There is also Zuk Z2 Rio that just launched today at 1599CNY with a 100CNY coupon that bring the price down to 1499CNY.
You only get 3GB+32GB vs 4GB+64GB in the Z2 but all else stays the same, 5inch 1080p LCD , SD820 and so on. So by far the cheapest SD820 device.

    • Airyl
      July 27, 2016

X25 supports MTK’s Pump Express charging by default if I’m not wrong, and the camera performance really depends more on the optimizations at this point. A lot of phones had the IMX214, though some still took better pictures than others.

    • realjjj
      July 27, 2016

Haven’t looked at the Z2 in depth so no idea if it has any problems but value wise it is the cheapest device with SD820 and more appealing than most devices.

VOOC is one of the fastest charging technologies presently available. VOOC differs from other fast charging tech in that they user higher levels of current whereas Pump Express and Quick Charge use higher levels of voltage.

but i dont know..from the specs alone i prefer the xiaomi..and lets wait for the camera as tis the same as in the mi4c/p9000

but if it comes to design and feeling with a round and thin design i prefer the mx6..dunno even if the 4/128gb version costs as much as the 4/32 mx6..

i mean granted io get a 4000mah battery..but i prefer a light and thinner phone as long as it gets me through the day (which a 3000mah abttery always did)

the redmi pro just looks so bulky and not really rounded on the site 🙁 +ofc. the traditional huge black border around the display that is 2 or 3 times the size of the meizu one..^^

The first sensor is the same as the Mi4c (which has a very good camera for the segment), the second sensor is what I am interested in. Some dual sensors actually make a difference, some are purely gimmick, some are in the middle. I am looking forward to some indepth reviews on this.

am i the only one dissapointed? Xiaomi Redmi NOTE 3 with Snapdragon 650 costs 150$. It scores 80k points in antutu. X20/X25 scores 80/100k and costs 250$.
What is more Adreno 510 is faster than X20’s Mali-T880 MP4.
So 100$ more is for dual camera, OLED and slower GPU

I don’t mind paying $40 more for the camera, $30 more for the OLED, $10 more the fingerprint with the home button at the front and $20 more for the bump in chipset. haha

      July 27, 2016

      OLED means much lower quality.
If it’s OLED it’s Pentile and you get a 720p experience at 5.5 inch.
To put it in a simple way,for red and blue the resolution is 960×540.
They should be paying you 30$ lol

The main sensor is nothing to brag about. You can find it in the Xiaomi 4c, 360 N4 or Elephone P9000.
      Don’t expect too much.

    • Hakim Farouk
      July 27, 2016

OLED has better contrast than most displays. The black is more black and etc. I’ve used so many phones with OLED to know of its high quality. I have no energy to explain to an ignorant child so, please spare me some quiet time.

It’s ok not to know something but to be an arrogant prick like you and refuse to learn is more than dumb.

Anyone informed and rational recognizes the much poorer resolution for Pentile. It’s not something that can be debated. And at 5.5 inch that’s a major problem.
I’ll use this link again for an external opinion on a 5.5 inch Pentile http://www.anandtech.com/show/10411/the-oneplus-3-review/4

yes i said that it is stupid for LeEco to buy Vizio unless it is very cheap and i stand by that.

Mediatek Helio x20 and x25 both support LTE bands what are you talking about?

      • Hakim Farouk
        July 27, 2016

“bands” Balco knows that the phone has LTE. What he’s trying to say is the lack of LTE bands to work, worldwide

      • balcobomber25
        July 27, 2016

The Phone does not support them. There are two things that are required for LTE coverage:

Modem which is found in the SoC. Most modems today support just about every network possible, a few like Samsung Exnyos don’t have support for all of the CDMA networks, especially those used in China. The second thing you need is the correct antennae to pick up the LTE signal. One can’t work without the other. This phone only has the antennae that will pick up the world mode bands 1,3, 7, etc. Simply having a SoC that supports all LTE networks doesn’t matter if the phone doesn’t support all of them. You should always check the bands supported.

      July 27, 2016

Definitely a very good phone for the price asked. I do not understand why so many people are complaining about that device, it is a flagship device at a very competitive pricing. When you look at big manufacturers like Samsung, LG, Sony, they offer Mini versions at 300€ with CPU clocked at 1.2GHz and 1GB ram. Is it a huge downside having a fake pentile display? I am seriously considering the Redmi Pro, do you think that I will regret it if I buy it? Thanks in advance!

      • balcobomber25
        July 27, 2016

People complain because it’s Xiaomi. There are two companies in the phone industry that draw the biggest reactions from people (good and bad): Xiaomi and Apple. There will always be complaints with both of them no matter what they do. I kind of just expect the comments now when I come on a Xiaomi thread.

As for the Redmi Pro, on paper it seems like an amazing phone for the price I would get one myself if it supported US LTE.

        • Misto
          July 27, 2016

Thank God there are dudes like you in this crazy world!

I never had an android phone until now and am wondering what people regularly do with their phones in real life usage.

I am based in Europe so I don’t need US LTE. I am seriously considering the Redmi Pro but can’t decide which model I should buy. 128GB storage is too much for me. 32GB storage (-6GB taken by MIUI system) so 25GB left for applications pictures might not be enough. The Redmi Pro with 64GB storage might be a better alternative. I don’t care about the extra GB ram on the most expensive one. 3GB RAM and X25 is more than enough for me.

          • Muhammad Yasir
            July 27, 2016

spend some money and go for the 64 GB variant … you won’t regret it !

              July 27, 2016

Apparently the memory is expandable, if it is the case which processor is the best? X20 or X25?

Man it is been a while that I am looking for a device and saved some money for it. I am tired to look for the perfect phone in the market. I would have been very happy to see a Redmi 4 released with SD625 but for that I will have to wait for a couple of months. Maybe it will be announced in coming months. I would have preferred a Redmi Pro with a 5.2″ for a better usage with one hand but I will live with 5.5″ size. Maybe with the time I will like the 5.5″ size.

            • Muhammad Yasir
              July 27, 2016

5.5 isnt so bad… a sibling has the Galaxy note 2 and i find it REALLY easy to use with one hand (i don’t have extra large hands :p )

              x25 is more or less x20 but i guess there’s difference of clocks in CPU and GPU ;
              http://mediatek-helio.com/x20/

memory is expandable if u are ok with single sim. i guess reseller mark-up will play a role too but depends on where u live , as currencies vary for all regions.

            • Misto
              July 27, 2016

Apparently X20 and X25 are very similar processors (X25 is clocked at higher frequencies). I believe that with X20 I will have a better battery life. That being said, the difference between the standard Redmi Pro and the version with Helio X25 / 64GB storage is about 30$.

Regarding the screen size, I think that a time of adaptation is needed. Like I said, I am done waiting for the perfect device, I have sold some records from my personal vinyl collection and saved around 450€ until now. I could get a flagship phone like Honor 8 or Zuk Z2 Pro but they are expensive. I mean that I prefer to spend a fixed amount for a new phone like 200€-250€. I don’t want to spend more and prefer to save money.

            • Muhammad Yasir
              July 27, 2016

              good approach.

btw i expect 5.5 to evolve into a useable form. its just the right size … its big but not gigantic and offers a better visual exposure than smaller screens without overwhelming the user.

          • Marco Lancaster
            July 27, 2016

            • Lazar Prodanovic
              July 27, 2016

X20 as the additional 200 MHz bump on X25 don’t worth the 35% energy it spend more.

            • Misto
              July 27, 2016

So X25 is a lot better if I understood you well.

            • Lazar Prodanovic
              July 27, 2016

It’s a same SoC renamed with minor bumped clock’s & it won’t make any difference in real usage only difference is that it will such the battery out faster.

My recommendation goes for a base model + 128GB SD card. Something you aren’t used to with iPhone…

            • Misto
              July 27, 2016

Thank you so if the expandable memory is confirmed I will get the standard version of the Redmi Pro for a better battery life. Moreover it will be cheaper.

            • Lazar Prodanovic
              July 27, 2016

Well they don’t change much extra for additional storage and RAM but I think 32/3 is just enough for comfortable usage whit SD card that is & without all day Facebook sessions with lots of videos that is.

            • Misto
              July 27, 2016

Yeah on Ibuygou website the difference between the standard version of the Redmi Pro and the middle version is about 30$.

        • Faisal Shaharyar
          July 27, 2016

it may well be supported with LTE band; by any chance if it launches in India it may have SD 625 (maybe it will target Zenfone 3) or LE2 with SD 652.

can u tell me in easy words what is a Pentile display ?

    • realjjj
      July 27, 2016

I don’t hate Xiaomi at all and would be prefrable if you stop imagining things. My comment is on the merits of this device. I was hoping for Xiaomi to overtake Apple in units this year or in 2017 and said that many times during 2014.

Xiaomi literally have no clue about style consistency in their phone range, every time they release a new device it is something different. Big home button, small home button, no home button, back scanner, front scanner, big camera, small camera, brush metaled, patterned metal, matt plastic, glass, curved glass, chamfered edge, no chamfer etc etc no consistency at all just a mess of different medicore designs.

    • Hakim Farouk
      July 27, 2016

True. The redmi and the old mi series are sort of a design mess. Nice design on it’s own but no consistency in the range. The new design language of the mi5 is very similar to the mi note tho. hopefully they maintain thereon

    • Airyl
      July 27, 2016

Yes , however acording to official Xiaomi sales ( yes i have asked) , current models are not target/produced and optimised ( CE Apporval) for EU market and current models are not ” 1 world- 1 Phone” new world all-band models- so for use in EU -it is on your own risk = no Xiaomi support/Garantee that is works 100% in EU

        • balcobomber25
          July 27, 2016

I have used several Xiaomi phones in the EU all of them had no issues with LTE in any major city. Xiaomi won’t 100% guarantee it because they don’t officially sell in Europe, the same with several other brands.

            July 28, 2016

New gen. Mediatek phone will be “all-world bands phone” so they will work 100% no matter where you are – Xiaomi could cirtanly learn one or things from that.

              July 28, 2016

It doesn’t matter if it is Mediatek or Qualcomm, the chips themselves support every band. It’s up to the brands themselves.

    official information: http://www.mi.com/redmipro/
Please check the bands as it seems to support all the cariers in Europe.
And there is no X10 version of the phone as you wrote in the article.

    • Hakim Farouk

You know that’s totally a different thing, right?

    • balcobomber25

$225 is the price of a flagship?

      July 27, 2016

      no?

    • Hakim Farouk
      July 27, 2016

How is it a different thing? Are they not flagships? If anything, I’d say that the Mi5, Zuk 2 and etc prices are a bit on the mid ranger end, wouldn’t that have made more sense?

    • balcobomber25
      July 27, 2016

You did say this was a flagship price, and those are flagships….

The highest spec variant is priced like a Mediatek flagship, but it also has Mediatek flagship specs. It is the best competitor Xiaomi has to the Meizu MX6/Pro 6.

    • balcobomber25

    • Bailey
      July 27, 2016

Sorry conversion of the top spec one is only in conversion is only £228 that is not flagship prices at all and the £ is not strong

That’s the thing: I was comparing a xiaomi phone with xiomi’s flagship, not the s7 or g5, which are other products from other companies with other markets!

maybe thats why its the redmi pro and not redmi note 4?

like i said the most expensive version that you compare it vs the mi 4 also has 4/128 vs 3/32 on the mi5

so you have more ram and way more storage and a huge battery

      July 27, 2016

It’s a midrange at a midrange price. The base model Mi5 sold for around $300 at launch, this base model is $225, not even close to same.

I was just about to get mi note 64gb before i heard about redmi pro. i thought the back camera on mi note was very nice. Also my gf use 6+ and she said the front 4mpx ultra pixel camera was so much better than the 6+. I dont selfie but if someone who selfies alot says its great than it must be.

Quick question – I live in the USA, are there any Xiaomi (or chinaphones in general) that I can safely purchase WITHOUT vendor ROMs and fast shipping to the US (I want one for my birthday next month on the 22nd)?
I know that this isn’t the best place to ask, but I am desperate – NO ONE has given me a straight answer and I have asked for help dozens of times.

My budget would be $230 MAXIMUM. 3G is fine.

Its so difficult to find a chinaphone in the US- they all either have Vendor ROMs (instant dealbreaker for me, I do NOT want to flash my phone for personal reasons) or are from resellers with EXTREMELY bad feedback.

Yes, but I want something more “exotic”. Something from Meizu, Xiaomi, Umi, LeEco, something like that.
I’m thinking of either the LeEco Le 2 (I like the design), Umi Super or the Xiaomi Mi Max, but I wanted some more suggestions.

Living in the US I find it hard to look past the Axon 7. Right now it’s the best package out there in my opinion and gives you a US warranty with a factory rom. I have a Redmi Note 3 Pro and if anything happens to it I’m shit out of luck even though it’s excellent and has given me no problems so far. I bought from Gearbest and have their vendor rom which is completely devoid of bloatware btw. I hear Geekbuying sells it with the original rom.

As for the Redmi Pro I’m waiting for the Snapdragon version and hoping it has more international bands.

Describe “too many”. Plus people use the Internet only to complain, and exaggerate the facts to get more attention. No one is going to bother writing a good review.
I purchased from gearbest and everybuying (it’s the same company) many times and only had a single problem of not receiving an item. I opened a paypal case and quickly received a reply asking me if I want a refund or a resend. I asked for a refund and they refunded me on the same day. Unlike other sites who try to fool you into closing the paypal case, claiming that they will help you afterwards.

I know you mentioned you didn’t want to, but I would highly recommend flashing an oem rom on whatever phone you end up purchasing. Thee is a pretty good tutorial on the xiaomi website that will walk you through flashing stock MIUI on a xiaomi device. Vendor ROM’s are full of bloat ware and don’t receive OTA updates

@Buyer I tried to buy couple times on gearbest and every time I had problem with order. First I bought last year some UMI smrtphone, on stock full availability, after week I receiving info sorry we didn’t send you phone but for exchange we could add to your account credit points to buy other things in our shop lol Immediately I started dispute and trust me, that wasn’t the same day refund. I’m waiting over week and I had to escalate dispute. After escalate paypal dispute I received refund from gearbest. Another my case with gearbest. After couple months I thought that I gave him one more time chance. I tried to buy chuwi hi8 pro tablet with win 10. Of course couple hundred pcs on stock so I clicked and paid immediately via paypal. After week I received info that sorry we don’t have hi8 pro win 10 but we have hi8 pro with android + win 10 lol I said ok, send me this model. After another week I receiving information that sorry, we don’t have hi8 pro with andro + win10 but we could send to you credits points for buying other things in our shop, so I started the same procedures – dispute, escalate dispute – after one month after my payment I received refund. I HIGLY NOT RECOMMEND GEARBEST SHOP !!!

but i dont know..from the specs alone i prefer the xiaomi..and lets wait for the camera as tis the same as in the mi4c/p9000

but if it comes to design and feeling with a round and thin design i prefer the mx6..dunno even if the 4/128gb version costs as much as the 4/32 mx6..

i mean granted io get a 4000mah battery..but i prefer a light and thinner phone as long as it gets me through the day (which a 3000mah abttery always did)

the redmi pro just looks so bulky and not really rounded on the site 🙁 +ofc. the traditional huge black border around the display that is 2 or 3 times the size of the meizu one..^^

The first sensor is the same as the Mi4c (which has a very good camera for the segment), the second sensor is what I am interested in. Some dual sensors actually make a difference, some are purely gimmick, some are in the middle. I am looking forward to some indepth reviews on this.

Seriously? Then what about X20 vs X25? Which is the best CPU?

    • Lazar Prodanovic

X20 as the additional 200 MHz bump on X25 don’t worth the 35% energy it spend more.

      July 27, 2016

Apparently the memory is expandable, if it is the case which processor is the best? X20 or X25?

Man it is been a while that I am looking for a device and saved some money for it. I am tired to look for the perfect phone in the market. I would have been very happy to see a Redmi 4 released with SD625 but for that I will have to wait for a couple of months. Maybe it will be announced in coming months. I would have preferred a Redmi Pro with a 5.2″ for a better usage with one hand but I will live with 5.5″ size. Maybe with the time I will like the 5.5″ size.

    • Lazar Prodanovic
      July 27, 2016

Don’t think antennas are different & I am certain that supported bands are programmable it’s about additional $$ including them (bands) cost.

    • Guest
      July 27, 2016

5.5 isnt so bad… a sibling has the Galaxy note 2 and i find it REALLY easy to use with one hand (i don’t have extra large hands :p )

      x25 is more or less x20 but i guess there’s difference of clocks in CPU and GPU ;
      http://mediatek-helio.com/x20/

memory is expandable if u are ok with single sim. i guess reseller mark-up will play a role too but depends on where u live , as currencies vary for all regions.

    • Guest
      July 27, 2016

Thank you so if the expandable memory is confirmed I will get the standard version of the Redmi Pro for a better battery life. Moreover it will be cheaper.

    • Lazar Prodanovic
      July 27, 2016

Well they don’t change much extra for additional storage and RAM but I think 32/3 is just enough for comfortable usage whit SD card that is & without all day Facebook sessions with lots of videos that is.

    • Guest
      July 27, 2016

Apparently X20 and X25 are very similar processors (X25 is clocked at higher frequencies). I believe that with X20 I will have a better battery life. That being said, the difference between the standard Redmi Pro and the version with Helio X25 / 64GB storage is about 30$.

Regarding the screen size, I think that a time of adaptation is needed. Like I said, I am done waiting for the perfect device, I have sold some records from my personal vinyl collection and saved around 450€ until now. I could get a flagship phone like Honor 8 or Zuk Z2 Pro but they are expensive. I mean that I prefer to spend a fixed amount for a new phone like 200€-250€. good approach.

btw i expect 5.5 to evolve into a useable form. its just the right size … its big but not gigantic and offers a better visual exposure than smaller screens without overwhelming the user.

If you live in EU forget Xiaomi- they do not support EU FDD Band or EU Language

    • balcobomber25
      July 27, 2016

They support some European bands just not Band 20. It will work fine for people living in major cities but not for those outside of them.

    • fido futte
      July 27, 2016

Yes , however acording to official Xiaomi sales ( yes i have asked) , current models are not target/produced and optimised ( CE Apporval) for EU market and current models are not ” 1 world- 1 Phone” new world all-band models- so for use in EU -it is on your own risk = no Xiaomi support/Garantee that is works 100% in EU

    • balcobomber25
      July 28, 2016

I have used several Xiaomi phones in the EU all of them had no issues with LTE in any major city. Xiaomi won’t 100% guarantee it because they don’t officially sell in Europe, the same with several other brands.

    • fido futte
      July 28, 2016

New gen. Mediatek phone will be “all-world bands phone” so they will work 100% no matter where you are – Xiaomi could cirtanly learn one or things from that.

    • balcobomber25
      July 28, 2016

It doesn’t matter if it is Mediatek or Qualcomm, the chips themselves support every band. It’s up to the brands themselves.

I’m thinking X25 with 3GB and 64GB. I don’t think phones need more than 3GB right? I just use it for social media, browsing, and photos.

3G is fine.

    • Sirus Valencia
      July 27, 2016

3G is good enough for me.
Its so difficult to find a chinaphone in the US- they all either have Vendor ROMs (instant dealbreaker for me, I do NOT want to flash my phone for personal reasons) or are from resellers with EXTREMELY bad feedback.

    • Akimitsui
      July 27, 2016

Gearbest is also a good reseller, use DHL shipping.

    • Sirus Valencia

Yes, but I want something more “exotic”. Something from Meizu, Xiaomi, Umi, LeEco, something like that.
I’m thinking of either the LeEco Le 2 (I like the design), Umi Super or the Xiaomi Mi Max, but I wanted some more suggestions.

      Thanks for the advice though

Describe “too many”. Plus people use the Internet only to complain, and exaggerate the facts to get more attention. No one is going to bother writing a good review.
I purchased from gearbest and everybuying (it’s the same company) many times and only had a single problem of not receiving an item. I opened a paypal case and quickly received a reply asking me if I want a refund or a resend. I asked for a refund and they refunded me on the same day. Unlike other sites who try to fool you into closing the paypal case, claiming that they will help you afterwards.

      It just seems overwhelming, IMO.
I don’t even know. I’m not very good at this, I’m probably just gonna buy a Mi Max/Le 2 and hope for the best.
