Uhans A101 – the best entry level phone for 60 dollars?

Uhans have recently launched their newest budget A101 model marketed as a sort of a tribute to the legendary Nokia device. Probably trying to accentuate the planned focus on an affordable, but quality phone, just like the finnish devices in the glory days.

Even with the retail price set to 70 dollars the phone doesn’t really look like the pure cheap and budget one, round edges and smooth lines look good and promise good ergonomy and grip. The 5-inch Sharp display is also not bad and Gorilla Glass 4, the necessary 2.5D arc and oleophobic coating it can offer quite some features. The back cover is enhanced with rubber so no smudges at all and firrm grip is guaranteed. And with a removable battery, it’s also appealing to certain group of customers.

Main selling point of the Uhans A101 is probably the 4G support on bands 1/3/7/8/20 thanks to the MT6737 chipset, which is still quite rare inside the ultra budget $60 devices. Uhans A101 is currently offered here for $69.99, but with the help of the discount coupon we get go even 10 dollars lower.

blackview a8 max and homtom ht7 plus seem to have a better quality-price ratio if screen size is not an issue, design of this one is so 2013.

Yes it’s a fusion regarding design but a rather good one if you ask me. Somehow I do think things mostly got on the wrong side after 2013. This one bringing old goodies (removable battery) along with good design that is a fusion of old and new. I simply like ergonomic & practical aspect, big and removable battery paird with good looks. Also like traditional button’s. homtom ht17 pro have a lot software problems (probably this one will also have them as it’s new SoC) & also whosent a something you would call a good build quality. As I started before it remains to be seen how this one is actually good. Price is certainly good.

After re examining spec sheet I actually can’t recommend it to anyone even without review. We again have on stage well known & always stupid price cut Chinese practices. Some of them are actually more easy to understand like only 8GB of storage space & only one GB of RAM (because actual price they bare) that how ever aren’t reasonable as for a decent user experience 16GB of eMC is needed along with 2GB of RAM (even if they have gone with 1.5GB that I would consider as a bare minimum I would swollen it). Second one is really hard one to understand. Only 5MP main camera? Why? Using the good 8MP sensor would only symbolically rise the price? Even using older 13MP sensor wouldn’t rise price to much. All do front 2MP one is is perfectly okay. It even have separate two sim ports along with separate SD cards one. Actually no one even mentioned Gorila glass on official page even if it have Dragontrail glass I suppose it’s good enough considering price. So even if the build quality turns out to be stellar (including quality of used components) & they address software policy good this product is actually doomed from the start. & it’s a bloody shame if you ask me. It would cost around 80$ & had a pretty damn good chance in the market with all I mentioned above.
