The Xiaomi Mi5C is a thing of beauty!

xiaomi mi5c

More leaked images have hit the web of the Xiaomi Meri, AKA the Xiaomi Mi5C!

After releasing the Xiaomi Mi5S and Mi5S Plus, Xiaomi are now rumoured to be working on a new budget Mi5C to replace the Mi4C from last year. The Xiaomi Mi4C hasn’t managed to grab much attention, but it was basically the ‘bread and butter’ version of Xiaomi’s flagship range of phones, the Mi5C looks set to build on that with new design and features.

xiaomi mi5c

Where as the previous phone was quite boxy the new Mi5C is a more attractive phone and dare we say it, more iPhone-esque. A 2.5D curved display dominates the front of the phone while the rear features an anodised alloy chassis.

We can see from these spy photos that the Xiaomi Mi5C has a similar fingerprint button as the Mi5S and that the overall design is a more classy one which better materials, thinner bezels and a slimmer overall size.

According to the leaked photos the Xiaomi Mi5C will have 3GB RAM, an octacore chipset running at 2.2Ghz and will be running Android 6.0.

Xiaomi haven’t announced when they plan to hold a launch for the Mi5C but it should be fairly soon and we expect that pricing could be as low as 1599 Yuan!

classic xiaomi inconsistency, drop the hideous home button from the mi5 for the mi5s and make a decent shape one. Then reinstate it for this. May as well have no design language at all, their range is just a range of random phones all with different designs,

Every time their is a chance to moan about Xiaomi its good to know that things don’t change as you are always moaning about them. They are not going to put the mi5s fingerprint tech on a cheaper model as this is the little brother of the mi5. you have this thought pattern where all phones from the same brand have to look the same go buy meizu phones all their phones look the same and it totally and utterly boring they been pumping out the same design for years if you go on the website its dull

lol, nice cherry picking your example of meizu. Tell that to the the most valuable tech company in the world AKA apple. Ever notice how the iphone 5 doesnt look eaxctly the same as the 7 but still looks like an apple device? You’re chatting complete nonsense. Even others like Samsung, Moto, LG, Sony etc have some consistency in their design and their own ‘style’, this is the basics of how you build a recognizable brand with a recognizable style, I mean what would i know though i’ve only worked in design and branding for 15 years. Xiaomi could at least make the shape of the button the same, didn’t say it had to use the same tech. Also they have dropped the MI logo open front again, lack of consistency. Meizu U20 and U10 dont look like exctly like their other phones, look slightly different but still maintain meizu brand, meizu has other problems though. Also xiaomis market share and value has plummeted an insane amount in the last 2 years. And as @Lupo rightly says, funny how vivo and oppo who maintain very clear hardware brand style has gained huge markets share isn’t it?

I hope its 899 or lower. Was thinking of either the Mi4c or Nubia Z7 Max for Christmas, but if this goes into sale, hopefully the 32Gb Mi4c gets another price cut into $120 territory.

Only if they use some of low end MTK SoCs…. And then that device wouldn’t be interesting.

And no i don’t care that you have worked in branding for 15 years. Oppo phones are a pile of crap. My thoughts on Xiaomi is that they simply they make to many phones where they should focus on a few that is actually the key to Apples sucess and the fact that they build they own chips and build the software that runs on the phone they are in charge of every detail and all there products now work together.

That looks very nice. Knowing nubia, the camera should not disappoint. SD 625 is perfect for me, just wish they had put a larger battery in it.

        • Luciano
          October 17, 2016

Do not worry about the battery, the SD625 is very power efficient (14nm). 3000 mah battery will allow to get easily 2 days of usage without charging the battery. Like you, the SD625 will more than enough for my needs and of course gaming. I just hope that the inflation through resellers will not push the price above $270.
I am hesitating between the Nubia Z11 Mini S, Note 3 Pro Special Edition and the Redmi 4. Unfortunately the Redmi 4 hasn’t been confirmed yet. The Xiaomi MI5S Grey color is a wonderful phone but it is sold at $395 in preorder. With the shipping costs (DHL), its final price will reach easily $420 which is 380€ (expensive 🙁 ).
So for me it will be between the Redmi Note 3 Pro SE and the Nubia Z11 Mini S (if its price do not exceed max 250€ including shipping).

We’re definitely on the same page as far as phones we’re considering. Battery optimization on the original z11 mini with the SD 617 wasn’t the greatest, so I’ll wait and see on this one. SD 625 should certainly help in that regard though. If battery life is good enough, it will definitely get added to my list. Very curious on final details on this xiaomi meri/Mi5c…could join the list as well

A user did a review for the Moto Z Play which has the SD625, a 5.5″ amoled screen and 3500mah battery. According the reviewer, he has been able to use the phone during two complete days with normal usage without charging the phone. It is a positive sign in my opinion. Nubia Z11 Mini S has a smaller screen, so this will help for the battery life. Of course I hope that Nubia did a great job on the UI (ROM) to use efficiently the SD625.

Frankly, I am a bit tired by the constant leaks by Xiaomi. I thought that they would release the Redmi 4 early September with SD625, 3gb ram and 32gb storage. But this phone disappeared in the nature.

              Let’s wait and see.
