Just two more days to go to Black Friday sale madness and the manufacturers and sellers are intensifying their frenzy. So today we have another load of sale and discount information, so let’s start with the Vernee piece.
There will be actually two different activities from Vernee for the Black Friday. First one will start on November 25th 9.00 UTC and Vernee Apollo Lite model will be available for 50 % of the original price, but it’s also going to be limited to mere 5 pieces so chance of success is not so high.

Hi MattD, what do you think about the Redmi 4 Prime? Is it a great phone for the price asked? I have seen a few reviews and apparently the sound quality is not great from the speaker. I guess that Xiaomi will fix this issue, same for the camera which will be optimized with regular ROM updates. I like the Redmi Note 3 Pro SE but this one is bigger.

I haven’t seen much about it, to be honest… Right now it’s actually hard to tell if it’s great or not, since it’s been out for so little, and we don’t know yet what they can and what they cannot fix via sw. Knowing xiaomi, they’ll improve the camera at some point, don’t think they’ll do wonder on the audio. Surely it shines in battery life, but the rest is a bit “meh”: for a little more you can have phones that are better in some aspects, so don’t know… If I were to buy it, I’d definitely wait a bit for sw development and for a price closer to 100β¬ than 170 (not saying it will drop to 100β¬, just that the price should be closer to that line).

The price is expensive because of resellers, the prime version is sold around 150β¬ on ali-express. There are better options out there but I don’t want to spend more than 200β¬. I really like the MI5S which is above my budget. There are other manufacturers out there but their phones are too expensive.

While it surely get better (it’s xiaomi after all, their first sw is never optimized ?), don’t know how much it will improve… Still, I’m pretty sure it’ll be a good deal, but we should wait a bit longer for both sw fix (community will work on that as always) AND price drop from resellers (as always, every new xiaomi gets 50-100 extra $ after get launched, the situation will stabilize after a month or so).
If you like mi5s, you could always keep an eye on standard mi5, it’s almost the same phone ? and it’s not much over 200β¬
Personally, I’m really keeping an eye over leeco cool1, it’s probably one of best, maybe THE best phone in the sub-200$ price tag, and it has some kind of sw support from community (one of the best modders out there, BB72, is providing a modded eui). You can give that a look!

I deeply agree with everything you wrote above. I do prefer the design of the MI5S compared to the MI5. The only version of the MI5 sold above 200β¬ is the base model with the CPU clocked at max 1,8Ghz. The 64GB version is around 260β¬. I have the money to buy the MI5S in Black/Grey color but this version is sold at a higher price ~350β¬ (excluding shipping costs) which is way above the amount of cash I really want to spend. I mean these phones are very fragile, a small fall then bye bye 350β¬. Yeah the Cool1 seems to be a great device but the camera is not that great. However it has a very fast CPU SD652. I don’t like the black borders around the screen to be honest. I think that I am going to order the Redmi 4 Prime because I am using a basic phone since a few weeks. “Xiaomi.eu” has started to work on the Redmi 4 Prime. Plus even if the sound quality from the speaker is not perfect, it will be more than enough for me.
I am not italian but I have many Italian friends. Luciano is a nickname I took when I go outside with my Italian friends.
