I didn’t heard anything about fast charging. Anybody knows ?

Not with the charger you get in the box (regular 2A), SoC support QC fast changing 3.0.

Yes SoC.. so I guess we couldn’t benefit of it as on RN3

Yes and no, if you flash your kernel with an unofficial one like Radon for instance you could improve the phone charging to get 5V/2,4A

Not really, however you can improve it with a Kernel (Radon) who allows a faster charging. 2,4A 5V

Very disappointing. They won’t live on the this one as they did on NR3 SD.

With this pricing this is a pure winner. 625 is a great choice and more than enough for most daily tasks. Would love a screen protection and quick charging, but for 200USD you have to sacrifice something i guess. Otherwise this is gonna be a great deal.

      January 19, 2017

It’s a pore looser compared to both regular NR4 and NR3 SD & then again they also lose compared to the Max Prime (3/64 GB) when we talk about price point of 200$ & Xiaomi.

      • tommyboy7
        January 19, 2017

Regular Note 4 is crap with MTK chipset. We can agree on that.

Max is really not for “every hands” so it’s a totally different target group with 6″.
If they improwe the battery even more, which is already sensational on RN3, and not loosing much of the performance with 625, then it should be a steal for under 200 bucks.
Many people like balanced phones and Redmi is really well balanced for the budget imho.

          January 19, 2017

You lose at least 33% performance on both CPU & GPU side. Their battery story is a bullshit one look at the RN3 vs R4 Prime results from independent reviews (RN4 SD can only be worser thank to bigger display). It’s balanced alright but pale to NR3 SD. As the Lenovo slashed price for Zuk Z2 Pro (around 212$) in India their you have a new performance/futures/cost champion for the market & Xiaomi doesn’t have anything to offer in return at the moment. Both NR4 are on down side compared to NR3 SD & certainly won’t sell half that good.
I used Max for its price, SoC (S652), 2.5D display and gorila glass for a comparation & it’s huge 6.44 with huge battery & they menage to put all of that for 200$ (3/64GB Prime S652 model). So you see its perfectly possible to achieve that at that price point without serious price cutting futures. & if it’s possible with such a huge device it is even more possible on a smaller one.

I used Redmi Note 3 and got decent performance with 3-4 days of battery. I don’t play heavy games and so even if 625 is 33% slower, which i doubt – it will have a sufficient performance for every day tasks – with even better battery life. Which is awesome for 200 bucks.

Comparing the Zukz2 Pro is a bit odd since it’s a 5.2″ phone and where i live, the cheapest you can get it is arround 320€ without shipping & tax. So Indian price cutting doesn’t mean anything to me.

But i will say this – i used regular Z2 5″ which had a horrible interface – ZUI is a joke. I flashed the Indian rom and then it was bearable with almost clean Android skin. Battery life sucked, it has quick charging to balance it out, but still – it’s an unfinished product with no multi-language option at all.

Pro has all the LTE bands and also multilanguage, but it also has ZUI – which is miles behind Miui in my opinion.

Redmi 4 Prime is a great phone, but 5 inchers are fading out slowly, so it’s a matter of decision which you prefer, But 5″ and 5.5″ sizes attract a totally different target group.

So it makes sense to bring out a 5″ and a 5.5″ phone with a similar specs.

Regarding the Max – seriously….6.44″ and 200g??? Ofcourse it has a good battery with almost 5000mah battery pack . But i wouldn’t want to carry that around. Most people think the same.

So your opinion is based on personal preference and nowhere near average users.

Yours again on your own imaginary world & not something typical nor usual.
33% slower means actually that it achieves 50% less performance which is significant no matter how you try to put it.

I wouldn’t call the Redmi 4 Prime SOT of 10h much of a achievement compared with Max 11+h wile being 33% slower & having 30% smaller display aria.

I used the Redmi 4 Prime and the Redmi Note 3 Pro. The 3 Pro excels in EVERYTHING to the 4 Prime, even battery if they are on Cyanogen.

Also, the Snapdragon 650 is the requiered minimun processor if you want to emulate a heavy console like Gamecube or the PSP.

            • January 19, 2017

Exactly, and for the average user it’s more than enough. Not to mention it has a much better energy efficiency and is cooler.
Many people have been waiting a SD Note and while if you own a Note 3 there’s no need to upgrade.
But as a new buyer of a 5.5″ phone, you will have a hard time finding a better deal for 200€. Hell, the cheapest 625 phone is almost 300€ and you don’t get a 4/64 version for that amount.

So it makes sense to use a 625 on Note 4. If you need raw power for gaming, you should go with Mi series or a different brand.

Do the math yourself. A72 is around 65% faster clock per clock than A53 wile being 3x bigger. So S625 big cluster archives around 50% less performance than one on S652 that stands to 66% performance of S652. On the other end A506 compared to the A510 is a bit less slower (around 30%).

Well, that’s… A bit disappointing! A redmi 4 with 0.5″ bigger screen… Meh! No reason to consider it over a redmi note 3 pro or even standard redmi note 4… But for a new buyer it could still be somehow worth it: price is high imho, but if audio and camera deliver very good results I could skip over the soc downgrade (I still think sd625 has enough power and the best power/efficency ratio so far)

It’s a same camera as on the MTK version & worser than one on RN3 SD.
Let me elaborate; in the last years batch thei used the 16MP Samsung 3rd gen ISO Cell sensors with 1㎛ size & now they are using Sony 13MP ones with 1.12 ㎛ size. We can say how Sony’s one is plane common & usually found in smartphones for years. If tuned good the Samsung one will win in every metric (had a Samsung phone with both 8MP sensors), ih tuned equally pore Samsung one will still win & besides you still have 3MP extra. Drove conclusions your self. SoC is not much more power efficient as all RF elements (cellular radio, WiFi, BT, GPS & cetera) still employ (are printed) on old 28 nm planar process because FinFET is not suitable for analogue nor mixed digital analogue components. Basically CPU and GPU are only on the FinFET. We won’t see much of a progress regarding general power efficiency until the RF designs are more widely spread based on FD-SOI all do Samsung have 28nm FD-SOI fully running & foundry available QC didn’t even tried to use it. So far as my knowledge goes we only have one Sony GPS module based on it. Other than that Globefonders 22nm FD-SOI is expected to see first product based on it in the second half of 3rd Quarter of this year commercially available (probably even the end of the year when they meet required manufactured volumes). Besides display will still stay biggest power consumer.
Redmi Note 4 SD is probably biggest disappointment in Xiaomi’s history & they brought it to them self as the RN3 SD whose a big step up in performance department.

But i always got a thinking that SD 65x lines is faster than the lame SD62x soc.

Different CPU, SD 652 got 2x Cortex A72 (and 4x ARM Cortex-A53) against the SD 625 (all ARM Cortex-A53). The first one outperform the second, also same situation about GPU. Doesnt base your choice on this because Max is also a totally different size, so different usage.
