ZTE Quartz gets FCC certification and is one step closer to be released

ZTE, the Chinese phone manufacturer, is planning to enter the smartwatch market. Some time ago, Evan Blass revealed informatiion, that upcomming ZTE Quartz would be running Android Wear 2.0. Also there were some rumours, that device will be presented during MWC 2017, but there wasn’t any ZTE wearable presented.

Upcoming ZTE’s watch has already passed FCC certification in the U.S. and Bluetooth SIG certification. It means, the device may be closer, than we think.

The ZTE Quartz with code number ZW10 is expected to feature 2G/3G connectivity, which means it will be a standalone device, that won’t require smartphone to make calls.

The FCC certification (as you can see at the picture above) confirms, that the watch would also support 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth v4.0. Unfortunately there is no information about NFC module, which would allow to pay with the smartwatch.

The attached images shows, that the device will have pin style charger on backside of the watch. What is more, we can notice, that the device will have round display and one single button on side. Many rumours say, that ZTE Quartz will be entry-level device with great price, that will be available in different color variants and supports iOS 8.2+ and Android 4.3+ phones.
