It’s a decent alternative to the most powerful Snapdragon 835 SoC – that’s already on the Galaxy S8, Sony Xperia XZ, Xiaomi Mi 6 and in a few days on the HTC U flagship. But what about this SD660 SoC? Can it be compared to its superior sibling? Well if you take into account their huge difference in price, then yes it provides a decent, cheaper alternative and a lot of smartphones in the future will probably be equipped with this SoC.

It’s obviously a mid-range chipsetĀ but it also comes with some level of optimization in performance and battery usage that will surely appeal to most average users in the market. This new chipset is believed to have been manufactured usingĀ Samsungā€™s 14nm LPP process and comes with 8 cores (a combination of Cortex A73 and A53 cores) and an Adreno 512 GPU. It offers support forĀ dual-channel LPDDR4X-1866MHz memory, UFS 2.1 storage, compatibility with up to 24MP cameras, LTE Cat. 10 and three carrier aggregation.

So farĀ OPPO R11Ā and Vivo X9s Plus are expected to rely on this specific chipset, but we expect even more devices to use it in the coming months.
