OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will be Getting Android O, OnePlus’ CEO Confirms

OnePlus 3T

OnePlus’ CEOĀ Pete Lau has just announced on Twitter that the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will both get updated to Android O.

This is obviously great news for OnePlus 3 and 3T owners and it shows how seriously the company cares about customer satisfaction. It’s indeed one of the most active phone manufacturer, software wise, and that’s why many Android users love their devices; other than killer price-to-performance ratios.

Now, it’s too early to say when they’ll actually release the update as Android O isn’t officially out yet, so hopefully it won’t take too long. The fact that OnePlus has already discontinued both the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T does not imply they won’t support these devices in future, as made clear when announced.

What do you guys think? Were you already expecting the update? Let us know in the comments below!

OP2 has been promised Nougat for a while now. Did they repeat that promise?

I have OP2 too. But sadly no Nougat… I am really curious if they keep their promise this time…

Yeah, the article mentions that One Plus is good about updating their phones. Maybe, but they certainly haven’t been prompt. Nougat was supposed to hit OP3 late last year, then early this spring. OP2 was supposed to have it in the spring…

One good way to sell new phones is to continue to support your older phones. Clearly, you can’t support them forever, but you can certainly support them for 2-3 cycles. If OP2 gets Nougat before they drop support, and they continue to do security and bug fixes for another year or so, then I think they will have done what was expected. Anything short of that, though, will lose their fandom.

They need to do what other “cutting-edge” companies do – announce an “end of support” date after the next version is released. Then continue with security and bug fixes until an obsolescence date. The lack of timely updates on a product that insists we “never settle” does not encourage future sales.

Xiaomi, you should take a leaf out of OnePlus. That is what I call customer satisfaction
