Xiaomi unveils new 1080p PTZ Smart camera priced at ¥149 (~$22)


We have a new addition to Xiaomi’s Mijia platform today, and it’s a really interesting one. Meet the 1080p PTZ Smart Camera, one that adds to Xiaomi’s growing list of home security cameras!1080p PTZ Smart camera

The 1080p PTZ Smart Camera measures 127.5 x 60 x 60 mm and weighs 249g. It works with Android 4.0 and above and iOS 8.0 and above devices using 2.4GHz WiFi technology for fast, easy connection along with a microSD slot and a full sized USB-port for flash drives (32GB max.). It has a strange rectangular design and rotates 360° atop a circular base, allowing for a 120° viewing angle, along with an f/2.3 aperture that allows for a93 degrees vertical rotation. Obviously, it is a PTZ camera so it is ideal for keeping an eye on your kids or pets.

However, apart from functioning as a security camera, you can also use it as a webcam using its own application that offers picture-in-picture mode support, allowing you to keep an eye on the camera while you do other things on your Android or iOS phone.

If you’d like more, the camera offers the ability to set it up to save to the cloud or a connected NAS device. It is powered via a DC 5V/2A port at the back and can work flawlessly during night, using six 940nm IR LED emitters.

The new 1080p PTZ Smart camera costs just ¥149 (~$22) and will start shipping from September 12.
