Top 5 Chinese Smartphones for Under $100 – August 2017

In the past month we haven’t seen many interesting sub $100 smartphones hit the market and thus this list is very similar to the last one. But doesn’t mean it’s any bad, indeed if you or somebody you know is looking for the best device for under $100, this is still the right place. So, let’s see what China’s ultra-budget segment has to offer!

Top 5 Chinese Smartphones for Under $100

1. Xiaomi Redmi 4A Pro

Xiaomi Redmi 4a pro

Surely, we’ll begin with still one of the best devices you can get for less than $100, we’re obviously talking about the Xiaomi Redmi 4A Pro. The handset, in the “Pro” version comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage (expandable).

2. LEAGOO M5 Edge

LEAGOO M5 Edge

The LEAGOO M5 Edge is a really affordable device with a nicely curved display at the front. While its bezels aren’t as thin as on the phone it takes inspiration from (Samsung “Edge” devices), they’re still pretty good for its $80 price tag. The M5 Edge is also a good option for those who prefer smaller phones as it comes with a 5-inch display.

Specs wise, the LEAGOO M5 Edge comes with a MediaTek MT6737, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable through microSD); there’s a 13MP camera with F/2.0 aperture on the back and a 5MP front-facing shooter. The smartphone packs a 3000mAh battery and supports a plethora of 4G LTE networks, with band 20 band being among them.

3. Gretel GT6000

Gizchina News of the week

The Gretel GT6000 is our battery-phone pick of the month as it comes with a massive 6000mAh battery. The handset features a 5.5-inch HD display, a MediaTek MT6737, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

The GT6000 also sports a trendy dual camera setup on the back composed of a main 13MP shooter and a secondary 1.3MP to create photos with a shallow depth of field (bokeh effect); on the front we instead have a 5MP selfie camera.

Albeit slightly over our $100 roof, we still felt like suggesting you this amazing device from Xiaomi — the Redmi 4X. The smartphones comes with a 5-inch HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

On the Redmi 4X we find a 13MP rear shooter with F/2.0 aperture and a 5MP selfie snapper. There’s a fingerprint scanner placed on the back of the device and beneath it we have a big 4100mAh battery which paired with the really power efficient CPU ensures an incredible autonomy. The smartphone features 4G LTE connectivity on pretty much any network around the world, in the Global version, that is.

5. Vkworld Mix Plus

Vkworld Mix Plus

Last but not least, we have the Xiaomi Mi MIX clone of the month, this time around it’s the Vkworld Mix Plus. The freshly launched device can be purchased for just $99.99 on a special flash sale the Chinese company currently running, but nonetheless it’s full retail price is $109.99, in our opinion totally worth the extra if you really dig the Mi MIX display design.

The Vkworld Mix Plus comes with a 5.5-inch HD display coated in Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and it’s powered by a MediaTek MT6737 paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage (expandable).

Cameras score low at just 8MP for the rear one and 5MP for the front-facing shooter; its battery is also not that big at just 2850mAh. The smartphone works on 4G LTE networks, including band 20 and runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

Given the overall specs, we only suggest getting the Vkworld Mix Plus if you “have” to have a Xiaomi Mi MIX clone a.k.a. with “Full-Screen” design.
